Altho there's no preview for it on the official site. I have been informed thru checking Midtowncomics.com that this will be out on wednesday along with TMNT vol 4 #27.

Oh, I am very much looking forward to see how this turns out. I don't think I've been this hyped for a TMNT comic in quite some time.

Well, it wasn't what I was expecting, but it was interesting nonetheless. I do like the design of this female Shredder, though it reminds me more of, say, Moon Knight than the actual Shredder.
Still, it should be interesting to see how this Tale comes back to haunt the TMNT, whether in Vol. 4 or in future issues of this series...

So, who was she?
It couldn't have been Karai, Tales vol. 2 takes place before "City at War" right? Plus, the Lady Shredder looked too young in the picture I saw to be Karai (in City at War Karai should have been in her 40's since she had a teenage daughter). |

Not necisserily. Karai could have been in her 30's in the City at War arch. She could have easily had her daughter when she was 18 - 20.
Now, Tales Volume 2 does not take place before City at War, unless it states specifically when it does take place (I.E. Worms of Maddness). These tales take place in various years of the turtles' lives. Also, I have not read this issue yet. I need to get to my comic shop to pick it up soon!!!

Well, I don't think it is Karai. A lot of clues would cause someone to think that, but this issue is probably just introducing us to another character.
This issue was great! I never thought they'd bring Hattori back, seeing as he was pretty much forgotten about after TMNT v1. I loved this issue: the ninja espionage they had to use, the ninja vs. ninja action, the connection of past events leading to this issue. I happened to favor this issue heavily. I guess this issue REALLY reminded me of TMNT v1, not only introducing a character from volume one, but just the plot of this story (with the Ninja Turtles infiltrating the Goseico Inc. building with ninjutsu tactics) really brought back good memories. This issue was well worth the wait. And I hope, in the future, that they bring Shredder's apprentice to light in a future Tales issue. Spoiler:
And from what I remember reading, Tales of the TMNT v2 covers events that happened from the end of TMNT v2 to the beginning of TMNT v4 (with TMNT v3 being non-existent).

I disagree with your theory on who the new Shredder is (from Vol. 4 #27). I don't think it's this lady Shredder whom we met in this issue. I think Laird will create some interesting backstory for the Shredder that we will uncover in Vol. 4 issues to come.

I got this comic yesterday and I enjoyed it. It was good to see Casey even though it was just for a short while. I'm gald Hattori was able to help out the Turtles like he did. This issue had a lot of action and Lady Shredder was quite the opponet for the Turtles. I like the fact that this issue had a lot of ninjas cuz the Turtles infiltrated the Foot complex. I'll try to get that volume one comic that was referenced for Splinter's body passing on the spirit from Hattori's grandfather. Anyways, I thought it was neat how Scott Cohn drew Casey's emotions under his mask. I'm glad he decided to do that instead of having Casey talk without moving his mouth while he wore his hockey mask. The ending made me wonder when this issue will be continued. The writer questioned whether this issue would continue or not with a classic "The end?" on the last panel. Will it be next month or three months from now or what? Only time will tell.

This has been my favorite TMNT story in quite a while. Like Rat King said, it definately had a big Volume 1 mood it, plus the throwback to one of my favorite TMNT issues was nice (Make a cartoon episode of it already, damn it).
I really doubt the Shredder chick was Karai, I think they would have made it clear if she were. I'm really looking forward to finding out her background and her ties to Yoshi. A huge step in the right direction for Tales. More ninja action and less hippie propaganda, please.

After overwhelming amounts of sci-fi, it felt GREAT to have a good NINJA story again.
Not feeling much for this Lady Shredder, but I'm sure I'll warm up to her with time. As soon as she gets some more depth, anyhow. A good issue, and like everybody said, definately felt like "the good ole days". |

Finally got this issue! Yeesh!
Anyways..I loved it...altho I don't know much about Hattori (I barely remember him from TMNT Vol 1 #9...Im missing the later issues he was in) tho. As for who the female Ninja was... she's after what Hamato Yoshi did to her family... I think she's of the clan Hamato because in the Tales issue where they went to Japan Splinter mentioned that when Hamato Yoshi killed Oroku Nagi and was bannished from Japan the rest of the Hamato clan were all killed.....Some of the Hamato's had to have escaped the massacre. And is it just me or did the Goesei(sp?) HQ look exactly like the Foot HQ(Oroku Saki Library) in the current toon?

Actuall, it's more of a case of the show looking like the comics. If you go back and read the first issue the Goseico building appeared in, the panelling and art is almost identical on that page.

I got it yesterday it's good I'm finally getting tmnt comics yay!
so yes I loved this issue and the art I haven't really seen many people complimenting this art work but it's good I love the way the people are drawn I'm not to crazy on the tmnts shells though they are kind of to big for my tatse. The story was great and I love when things are connected to one another but still introducing us to allot of new things..those ar emy favorite kind of stories This issue to me had a very old mirage/image tmnt feel to it it was odd but good Ok I'm looking at the issue while typing this I'm gonna say one thing I really don't like is how they keep changing how the foot looks! ugh it's making me so mad...I like the old kevin and peter bug eyed foot soldiers I wish theyd use them. soooo does anyone think Hattori is sexy? lol it's prolly just me. haha I'd also like to note that the tmnt have their tales in this issue to hah yea ok and I'm gonna say it...I don't care about this girl shredder...she doesn't do anything for me...Pamiko in the image comics series did it more for me and I liked her more than this lady. oh well.. |
