Tales of the TMNT 23

The official site finally put up the sneak peak of Tales 22 (which I have yet to get) but Dan also put up a preview of Tales 23 which features the return of Leatherhead!

http://www.ninjaturtles.com/comics/m...vol2/23/23.htm

The TMNT are summoned to deep space to rescue Leatherhead from a group of Utrom militants... and worse.

The worse part appears to be replicants! Meep!

I'm glad someone else beat me to the punch. I can't help but to just aboslutely love Dan's artistic style for the turtles. You can always distinctly tell his style from Eastman's, Laird's, and Lawson's. Well, I guess it's the same all around for anyone who closely plays any attention to how the comics are drawn. Everyone has their own style, but I just love the way Dan does it.

Bandanas! I think it might be the bandanas...

A pretty good issue, though I like just about any with Leatherhead.

An interesting revelation about the TMNT's origin, if only a rather small one. At least now we know who was driving the truck that spilled the cannister of ooze.

Also, we've been getting plenty of Leatherhead in Tales and even in the on-going a little...but are we ever gonna see some Rat King? He's due for a come-back, and I'm not talking one panel cameos, either.

^ He didn't die at the end of the issue he appeared in during the City at War arc? I remember Splinter seeing his bones... but then again, Pete and Kev did make us think whether he was alive or a figment in Splinter's head. Rat King does need a return though.

And this issue was definitely a great one! Finally being able to conclude what was happening to Leatherhead and giving him a great role in this issue. I always was under the impression that those utroms were just bringing LH home in that last Tales issue where he was taken. I'm glad that they gave that moment a story!

Once again, a lot of action, and even a nice twist in this issue; a surprising revelation that not too many people would have thought of. Ribky ends up being quite the noble utrom, makes you really sympathize for the guy. It's a shame he won't get to spend time with his "sons" though.

Very nice issue... and I just finished a researched presentation on the subject of genocide in my International Relations course, so this issue intrigued me even more with the message of arguing against genocide. Very nice issue, indeed!

Well, yeah, but his ghost seems to get around a lot. They could just work his ghost in as a character. Either way, I want more Rat King!

Also, they seem to be using Tales to tie up a lot of loose ends from the TMNT's origins...even ones that aren't so loose.

We've already found out what happened to Oroku Nagi's ghost and who was driving the truck that spilled the ooze. I wonder what they'll go for next.

I loved this issue! A great tale involving our good reptillian friend Leatherhead. It's also good to see again that the Utroms do have a dark side. The last 2 issues of Tales and the last 4 or so issues of Vol. 4 have been outstanding. Keep up the good work Mirage boys.

Finally got this issue.

This was a pretty good issue. We learned several things:

1: Female Utroms have eyelashes

2: We learned who was driving the truck.

3: When you clone Leatherhead the result is a creature that looks like a Jackson's Chameleon.

It was a good issue... great actually. I loved the whole driving the truck/final request thing. It was touching.

However, anyone but me ready for the Tales of Leonardo arch that's coming up... along with Tales and the regular TMNT line going on? YES!!!! 3 TMNT comics in one month!

Yes Dan Berger he's one of my 3 favorite tmnt artists the other 2 are A.C. Farley & Michael Dooney.
I really hope we see more from Dan in the months to come.
oh btw I also loved that front page art work with the little alien/demon great stuff!
ok this issue is just a given when it involves a character like Leatherhead we are all gonna love it lol.
he's such a great character and this all just gives us more of him poor confused guy.
hmmm so we learn that not all utroms are good..seems to me the utroms don't want people knowing they have some bad seeds in the bunch cause they try and tell people they are all a peacefull race. pft lol.
and yea I really thought that leatherhead was being taken home by regular utroms also not these crazy ones...talk about suprising.
that bottom left panel on page 13 really does remind me of new toon shredder though when he jump out of his body lol...no matter how many times I see an utrom jump or wiggle it makes me laugh.
It is sooooooo sad that we find out that Emissary Ribky was the creator or father of the Turtles, splinter & Leatherhead...it makes me wonder if Splinter had known this allready...he seemed to know him.
And ok they totally need to make a Mech for the utroms in the cartoon cause I want one as a toy lol.
And yoi! those Leatherhead clones had been made fast does anyone else agree? but damn they sure tore that evil utrom a new one hahah I loved it!
I'm also glad we learned how Leatherhead got back to earth also
tales of tmnt is a great great series and issues like these last 2 shine in a dull comic world.

I read this issue yesterday and it was great. The action and artwork really impressed me. I really liked the cover and the frontsipiece. I think Dan Berger should do more pencils and toning for future issues.

I was glad to see Leatherhead cuz he helped moved the plot forward and he's just an all around cool character. This issue was interesting when it told about the two types of Utroms. That's good that we found out who was driving the TCRI truck when the ooze canister fell out and mutated the Turtles. Since his name is Rikby, anyone think that came from Jack Kirby's last name and someone decided to switch the letters around? Eastman and Laird made a tribute to Kirby before in Donatello's Micro Series issue. Anyway, I'm happy that we got to see more of the Utroms' world. Iit really helped me understand 'em more and see what they're like when they don't deal with the Triceratons.

The next issue looks exciting and I can hardly wait for it. That's good that Murphy and Mike Hawthorne are workin' on it cuz that makes me anticipate it so much more.
