If you had Directed the TMNT 3 Movie..

I'm one of the TMNT fans who were not happy in the direction they took for the 3rd movie, having no Shredder or Foot Clan, and we have villains we have never heard of, or were really not that memorable (Walker(the English guy), Lord Noringa). It wasn't that bad, but it felt slower paced, Casey Jones was under-used.

If YOU could of taken over what would happen in the TMNT 3 movie, who would you put in it, and what would it be all about?

For me, it was a wasted oppurtunity to put in the TMNT up against Krang and his Technodrome invading New York. This would have to have the biggest budget of all 3 films to give it the best chance, that it would work. I would not put in Shredder or the Foot Clan as Shredder DOES die in the second movie. Krang would look more unpleasing to the eye than in the cartoon and would come across as more disturbing, but still come out with funny remarks. I would put in the Rock soldiers as well. Tatsu could be someone the Rock Soldiers stumble across, and is in tatters after the fall of the Foot Clan, but has uses for Krang. The Technodrome would come through the portal to Earth, a little away from New York.

The film will have a HUGE build-up to the actual Technodrome entering Earth, with sign, and messages beforehand (think "Independence Day"). The turtles would be more serious than in TMNT 2 movie but still comedic. Professor Perry would return and April, who warn of this incoming attack. Bebop and Rocksteady would not be in it, because it would seem too copycat from the second film. A GREAT MOVIE IT WOULD BE! I WISH!

That's really more of a question of "How would you REWRITE TMNT 3?" To say redirect means your intention is to reshoot the same script with a different outlook (IE: Changes in scenery and character direction).

Krang I don't think should've been in it, but a movie version of Renet would've been cool. They should've just taken the time travel story from a few of the comics with Renet. Or just an episodic movie with highlights from each of those stories.

I thought the first two movies were gold. I have both of them on DVD, I can even recite the first and most of the second movie (it's sad that I'm proud...)! The 3rd movie reminds me a lot of "the next mutation" series that aired on TV. I remember watching a couple of those episodes when I lived in Scotland, and although I consider myself a die-hard turtle fan, I found myself switching the channel. TNM just didn't do it for me, and I saw a lot of it in the 3rd movie (or maybe it was the other way around, I'm not sure which one came out first). All I know is that it took TMNT in a different direction, and it lost me at the crossroads.

I think that the idea of putting Krang in one of the TMNT movies was probably mentioned... it's just that he would be very hard to do for live action in my opinion. The costumes in the first two movies were, no doubt, amazing. I'm not sure how they would've done Krang, but I agree with you Foot Clan Major, that they would have to make him very grotesque if they were to try to pull it off. I actually really like your idea for the 3rd movie. It gives me the feeling of a more familiar TMNT, and if they could pull off a dark and sinister Krang, yet keep his smart mouth, then it could possibly rank up with the first two movies (which were possibly the best movies ever!). The only way I could see a Shredder in the proposed 3rd movie, would be if Krang had brought him back or something (I'll admit, I was upset when Shredder died because the dock fell on him, lol), but then you would risk becoming repetative. I think if they could encorporate Krang and keep the feel of the first movie, then it could've worked (with a big budget, lol).

Then again... anything different from what they did for the actual third movie would've been better...

I think that TMNT 3 is underrated. It's fairly well written, has more ninja action then TMNT 2, and the guys actually take their weapons out to play. I think that to make it better would require Henson style creature suits and Kevin Clash reprising his role as Splinter. That and intergrating Renet and making the Dyamio and his family the ansesters of the Foot Clan. That would have made it a little better, but I still think that TMNT 3 isn't sooo bad.

Well, first off, I would have rewritten TMNT 2. Removing Shredder(and Vanilla Ice), and had it feature Karai and the Rat King. And for TMNT 3, I would have had the villian either be Baxter Stockman, or, in keeping with the time travel, Savanti Romero.

For me I would firstly have a better costume studio do the TMNT. Who ever did them in 3 sucked ass. Why did Jim have to die?

As for villians well I'd have a City At War thing going on. Karai comes from Japan to take over Shredder's Empire and restore order and a huge war breaks out. Just remove some of the characters that couldn't be in it *Since they weren't introduced in the other films* Like Rat King and tweak the story to fit in a 2 hour flick. It would have worked great cause it was set up perfectly for that to happen. Shredder was dead, we had Casey already and they could have introduced the Elite Guard. Just my ideas

But Shredder is too cool to take out! But... I think they could've done the 2nd movie on Pimiko (the actual daughter of Shredder) and she could like, try to avenge him or something. She could've taken over the foot clan in his place, kind of the an heir to the Foot Clan throne. Shredder also had a brother, Oroku Nagi or something like that. So there's some lineage to Shredder, he wasn't just some evil ninja who popped out of nowhere, he apparently had a family. So they could've done the 2nd movie on the reprecussions of his death.

I'm still gonna stick with the Krang idea for the 3rd movie, lol. That just would've been soooooooo bad@ss if they actually pulled it off (plus Krang is super cool!)! Jester, I guess I'll be honest and say that I don't exactly remember the 3rd movie all too well... so I could just be imagining it worse than it really is... and ThemanthatwouldbeRaphael, I like the Baxter Stockman idea. I think he would be very workable in a TMNT movie.

(Haha, it's funny to talk about this stuff like we can actually change it. Sort of makes me want to write a fiction, re-writing the movies...)

Best idea thus far! I would love it if the third movie had those elements!

Dude, no... Just... no.

It was purly awesome to have Shredder come back in the second movie. I agree about having Ice taken out, but not Shredder.
Honestly... Removing Shredder from the second movie? That is such a horribly bad idea.

That would've been pretty bad-assed, I must say. The only good thing about TMNT III was "Tarzan Boy" during the credits...Man, I love that song!

Hey! Can't get rid of Vanilla Ice! If you got a problem, yo, he'll solve it!

If that problem is Vanilla Ice, though, we're presented with a paradox...

The third Movie had already been completed before the City At War arc was devised. I have a couple of the early City At War issues, and some of the advertisments were of the Third TMNT Film. it was coming to theatres soon when the City At War Arc was brand new, so they couldn't have based the Third film on City at War, though that arc could make a good film, I never read the latter issues.

Like Jester, I didn't think the third film was so horrible, but The Costumes went down in quality. and it would have been cool if Renet was there instead of a Time septer, and also the overlord could have been one of the earlier leaders of the foot, and his men could have been members of the foot in their earlyiest of days.

EDIT: wait a minuite!!!!, thats a bad Idea about the Foot Part, it would have screwed up the cycle of time, if the TMNT defeated the Foot in the Past, there might not be a Foot of the future, greatly changing the events of time.

EDIT EDIT: I honestly don't think I could change TMNT 3 for the better, I'm just not adept in that particular field.

Oh, man. I gotta find that one post of mine where I explained a cool sequel to TMNT II.

It had Prof. Perry as an Utrom, a rogue Utrom named Krang who resurrects Shredder and creates Bebop and Rocksteady, Casey joining the turtles again, a whole plot.

I would have done the Turtles in Space storyline from volume 1. I would love to see the bar scene or the triceraton gladiator scene in live action.

Oh, and Vanilla Ice would turn out to be the 5th turtle!

Well for one thing a lot of you are busting out all these radically expensive ideas like krand and the technodrome and going into outer space and such. I don't know if you've realised but TMNT 3 was supposed to be a cheap cash in to a dieing franchise. Of course this is what happens when they make movies low budget, it only helps in killing it off, and we may have seen TMNT 4 if 3 didn't suck so much.

But if you think about it everything was cheaper in TMNT 3, the costumes, the film locations (remote areas are cheaper to film on because you're not paying a large city like New York or something to film which usually means blocking off streets), the actors (all unknown which I tend to appreciate more but it's not like any of them were good anyway). If I was in charge of TMNT 3 I would have demanded a better budget or I would have refused to make it.

I kind of appreciate TMNT 3 in a way, and I'm glad we got it, but it'd be so much nicer to get the original space story arc in a real movie now, now that CGI can help out dramatically, but still be live action as opposed to all CGI.

i liked the story idea they had for part 3. it had promise, but they didn't do it justice. i would have had the third film be more serious/dramatic. maybe have a "zulu" or "assault on precinct 13" type film. where the turtles help the villagers stop the invaders from all sides. more action, better costumes, lessy kiddy. if i had made it.... hmmmm. i guess i would have played up the choice of going home or staying to fight (changing history?) and help the villagers even more. kinda be like 'tears of the sun' (in that movie it's whether to leave the people and follow orders, or help them and risk danger). and i would have had my main man/turtle raph in the bruce willis role. trusting his gut and saying that he's going to stay, maybe saying 'i've been shutting everybody out for the longest, today is the day that stops' or something like that.

that's exactly the same thing I thought also!! I was sooo dissapointed when it wasn't.
I was looking forward to seeing Renet, Savanti, & Shoat in the movie but that's not what it turned out to be..I think thats why I hated the 3rd movie so much besides them not going with henson and those horrid costumes...ick.

I honestly wish they would have gone with the triceraton and fugitoid story or even the rat king.
Watch the tv show Dinosaurs now on dvd The boss on the show is a big Triceratops man henson could have done wonders for a movie like that.
& the rat king please that would just be the coolest ever hehe.

No, having Shredder in there was a dumb idea. I mean c'mon the man got crused by a dump truck, that's not just something you walk away from. Even Peter Laird hated that idea.

It would have been better to do Karai, and adapt a City at War type movie. You know, to go along with the comic book tone. TMNT just took a drastic turn and made it too campy, especially with Ice in there.

If they had to bring Shredder back, they could have done it better, although in all honesty, it was too early to bring him back, they should have waited to TMNT 3 at least. Although, my versions would give each villian theyre shot...

TMNT 1: Shredder
TMNT 2: Karai/Rat King/Shredder Elite
TMNT 3: Savanti Romero
and if possible
TMNT 4: Baxter Stockman/Shredder

To tell the truth, TMNT has enough material to last about 6 or 7 movies, but that's to much to ask for.

Actually, if you read Masks Part 2 of Volume 1 of the comic, you'll see that...

Spoiler:
Raph actually is responsible for creating the Foot

Hey he said if I directed. That means I could also release when ever I wanted to as well. Meaning I could use that story arc if I liked.
