Official NEW EPISODE discussion: 119 "Obsolete"

The official site, NinjaTurtles.com, tells us:

"Hoping to fix the Time Window and return home, the Turtles sneak out with Cody and go to O’Neil Tech. However, Darius sees the guys and wants them away from Cody and in his lab for study! Unleashing old mercenaries against the Turtles, it looks as if Darius will get his wish – until they turn on him and kidnap Cody instead! The boys use new technology to create new weapons which get a full workout when our heroes stage a desperate rescue mission!"

This Darius Dunn guy sounds like he has more in common with Agent Bishop than just a voice actor. I wonder why they need new technology for their weapons though... Personal force fields must be popular in the future, I guess.

Oh good! We get to see Darius today! I got the Triple Action FF Raph figure yesterday that comes with targets of 3 of the bad guys to shoot at with his sais and Darius is one of them (the other 2 being Dark Raph and Sho'Okanabo). He's refered to as "The Villinous Darius Dun" on the box art. So it looks like Cody's uncle (yes that's right...uncle) Darius is gonna be the lead villian!

Dark Raph is Raphael's eeevil clone. Sho'Okanabo is some sort of crab creature.

It also wouldn't hurt if these new weapons could... I don't know... actually hit the enemy this time.

...ok

So, I get the feeling we've missed some stuff involving the flying guys. They seemed to have one of those entrances that should have been like *gasp!* not THOSE guys again.

I also feel like "Uncle" Darius is not a blood relative.

I still hate the constable and Serling. And I have a baaaaaaad feeling that the blue chick is gonna end up being someone's love interest. ewww!

I need some kind of story line.....

im sorry to skip to the chase what the hell did I just watch? The show is completly retarded now. Why did 4 kids have to screw this up. Could it be because Yogio or whatever its called is coming to 4 kids and dumb down tmnt. This show is so unwatchable I think if anyone seen us watching it there just knock it for what it is. I love the way it was before why mess it up. Sorry just watched it and it made me mad how dumb it is. I'm all about more seasons but I wish they wont if this is what we are going to get...

Good:
- Is it me, or did Cody have mannerisms just like Casey when he was explaining O'Neil Tech?
- Raph and Mike turning to Don for a techno-translation. (I liked it because that happens to me.)
- Mikey and the 'make your dream item come true' machine stuff = funny.
- Leo is still reckless when slashing!
- I dunno why, but I love to see Raph play with his hi-tech toys.
- Dun's destruction of the 'obsoletes' and the turtles' slight suspicion. Glad they didn't straightup find out that Dun was evil.
- Mike accidentally taking out the camera was cleverly done.

I'm starting to feel like Raph is a Mary Sue when he expresses his opinion about the future.

Bad:
- Splinter condones the guys trashing their host's living room? The guys want to trash their host's living room? Whaaaa...?! Maybe it was part of some... um... wise strategy to allow Cody to loosen up more... ... ...yeah, that must be it.
- Say it with me boyz and gurlz: It's Ninja Time!
- I was surprised Leo was electrocuted... that was actually kind of cool... but it wasn't cool that he was perfectly fine 0 seconds after. Maybe he just covers well-- that Leo, so stoic...
- The blue chick annoyed me. Not sure why, but Katie you might have something there. :p

I must admit that this episode wasn't as bad as last week's. I enjoyed the main story involving the Obsoletes, even though I got all excited at first because I thought it was the Dark Turtles already (there were four of those pod things). But I didn't enjoy the comedic stuff at the start and end that just seemed to go by the same formula as the start and end scenes last week. Ugh. Not to mention that cop robot. -_- I also hope Splinter doesn't mention his love for soaps every week.

I think I noticed that "TD" Technodrome logo again as the big battle was starting. This time, it was stretched longways though..

I have a feeling the crew had to get this season started quickly after they were told to stop production on the first half of the real fifth season (13 is half of 26), so that could be why last week's episode wasn't all that great. *shakes fist @ 4Kids*

After watching the episode, I think it's safe to say Darius Dunn is a distant relative of Agent Bishop. I guess that guy had kids afterall.

*shivers* ewwwwww!

I betcha Bishop is still hanging around though. Maybe he changed his name and appearance after being embarassed when the aliens he was trying to protect the world from turned out to be good guys?

From Darius' reaction, I don't think he is actually Agent Bishop. You are probably right, Bishop probably is somewhere in the city. I wonder if Baxter is too.

yeah...I doubt that Darius Dun is Bishop.......but a clone....yeah, I can see that....a distant relative....can see that too. I think that he was the one that helped Cody's father "pass"

And BTW....who else wants Don to come clean about his SAINW experiences since they are in the future? And....wants them to at least show a little sadness that Casey and April are long dead? (Like could we see them visit the graves or something? that would be SO emotional)

This was a pretty good episode, actually. They explained to us some more stuff about the future, Cody's backstory, and introduced Darius and that blue girl.

I'm officially interested in the rest of this season. Things are looking good.

SAINW made people cry. I don't think we'll be seeing any overt references.

At this point, they're not missing April and Casey because they expect to see them again. You're right; visiting their graves, or memorials, or even seeing pictures would be pretty poignant.

Aw... crap I just missed the preview for next week.

Like the last episode....it could've been worse but it ain't the TMNT we know and loved either.

I was starting to be okay with the art style (not ADORING it like it used to be, but at least it wasn't hurting me) until they started doing face close-ups. Blegh.

The guys making a mess of April's apartment was cleverly done, the guys making a mess of the "sitting room" was incredibly lacking and didn't make as much sense--it was like they were just jumping around destroying things on purpose whereas in April's apartment they were trying to help her out with dishes and such and it was more her worrying about things getting destroyed than things ACTUALLY being destroyed and the destruction was accidental. In fact I think it was even more lacking the the original series' destruction of April's apartment....at least that was creative in what was getting wrecked (Raph in the bathroom, hehe!)

Darius. Wow, the uncle that gets control of the company and keeps the kid locked away. I'VE NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE. Except in a straight-to-video or Olsen Twin movie.

I liked the robot-bird guys rebelling against Darius. I was wondering if they were the elementals but then I started thinking they might be the future version of the birds that lived in the fortress in the sky (can't remember their names, wasn't really a favorite episode but it tied in nicely with other episodes and it'd be neat if this series maintained those kind of connections).

I really miss all the little art details that excited me when I caught them in the earlier episodes--like the Utrom on the end of the sword of Tengu.

Why is Splinter STILL talking about soap operas?

Yeah, blue chick...love interest...and the "HOLYCRAP ITS A GIRL LETS STARE" Again, we got a similar but MUCH BETTER DONE reaction with Sydney. This was Looney Toons.

I wish the technology was a bit more than "whooo, PLOT DEVICE!" >_>

I liked the Mikey got giant mecha armor, that made sense I didn't like how it fell apart.... the future makes everything perfect....unless we can make it a cheap joke! bah. They could've done something with it where it was so complicated/bulky that Mikey had trouble manuvering or something.

I miss the humor of the earlier episodes...Mikey's jokes may have been dorky, but at least they weren't overused crap.
