My Idea, For a Future TMNT

Alright so yesterday I took a tour of Academy of Art University San Francisco which is the best art school in the US. I will be attending it starting in January. I saw all the classrooms and such.

They have the best film, graphic art, computer art, and animation classes in the country. I'm going for 4 years to start and then maybe another 2 to get my Masters. I want to get my masters in film. Since out of all I saw on the tour film looks like the feild I want to enter.

Now you all might be asking what any of this has to do with TMNT. And it seems like nothing but here is my "plan"

On my journey though this college I will be surrounded by artists of every talent. Animators, editors, writters, illustrators, and so fourth. I will also be living with or around these people. It wouldn't be completely unheard of for there to be some TMNT fans amoung these people*Myself included of course*

This idea might sound like a little fanboys dream but if I really set out to do it I might be able to throw together a little TMNT program of my own. Now before you mock me you should really check out the way this school works. Most of the projects are based around taking prexisiting material and adding to it*IE making TV ads for it and such* then showcasing it for major companies to see. Some people made MTV ads, some people made movies where they re-did scenes of Fight Club on a green screen replacing the actor with themselves. The companies see these and people get hired on the spot.

The school has an 80% success rate, bascially 80% of the students get hired 6 months after they graduate. These are impressive numbers. And not to mention the people who graduate start companies right out of college too.

So I know this is a long speal but my point is this. If my interest for TMNT is still as high as it is now I would gladly devote my time and efforts to making a new TMNT program. Now how far it would go is beyond me but with the people I meet and things I will be learning I have a good chance of pulling it off. I would love to adapt the comics perfectly to match a TV show and not the way Laird did it either. I'd like to do it true to form. Page for page if you will. No more of this kiddy crap stright forward TMNT the way it was ment to be. And is Laird caught wind of my project maybe he himself would approve*Which I would need if I ever planned on doing anything with it for profit*

Like I said I know this sounds like a stupid fanboys dream and I don't blame you for thinking so if you do but with your help and hopefully the help of a few new friends I will be making I could pull this off. So wish me luck come January because I have some big plans for my future.

Believe it or not I actually thought about doing that myself. I already have someone lined up to do Donatello's voice and he sounds pretty good. But yeah, animation is no walk in the park.

Dude, go for it.

And could you post a link to the Acedemy's website. It sounds very intresting, do they have any cartooning classes?

Are you planning on either different bandana or skin colors to differentiate the turtles or is that going to be true to the comics as well?

Yes they have cartooning classes I saw the classrooms and their awesome.

Thanks all for the support! I'll see what I can do. But I got 4 years ahead of me so don't get to excited yet.

Red, why? In the comic Laird and Eastman did a good job of letting you know what TMNT was which in black and white without the use of colors. Plus if the TMNT have voices*unlike the comic* telling them apart won't be hard at all.

But I don't know I do enjoy the colors. It kinda adds more personality to them. We will see how I feel about it in a few years.

As far as wild and crazy schemes go, this one is well into the "possible" side. Go for it.

Sounds like a neat plan, and I wish you the best of luck.

And if you need a writer for the show, keep me in mind.

Well it's won the most awards, has the highest sucess rate, and was named the best art school...that's why they advertise it as the best. So maybe their wrong but I do ask how you could know unless you have gone there? They said the only people who don't make it are people who quit. And after seeing what I saw there I can see that.

Anyways thank you guys ^_^

Heh, cool. Like Sabacooza said, animation is tough and takes a lot of work, but it would be awesome if something like this worked out. Red masks or no, another try at serious Turtles would be great.

I wonder what would happen if it were a somewhat limited thing. I hardly watch any anime, but fans assure me that the best animes are the ones that end sooner. Instead of stretching resources over hundreds of episodes, more time would be spent on making 30 or so the best they can be. Whether this is accurate or not, it might be great to see more shows that do this. The downside is less time for character development, but better-looking stuff.

That was nigh on irrelevant. Good luck with trying to realize this.

Cool idea.

As for the colors, I would go with some dirty, muted colors. Here is my reasoning:

Originally, there were no colored belts in the Martial arts. One started with a white belt, and wore it his entire career, and never washed it. Through sweat, it would turn yellow, through falling in grass and dirt, it would turn green, then brown. Later, with experience, it would turn red with the blood of his opponants. Over time, it would eventually turn black.

I think the colors shouldn't be bright and cheerful, but they should be there to make more obvious who is doing what, at a glance -- and to help add character.

I look forward to your success.

I support you 100% in this. Would be awsome. I think that you could pull this off the right way.

Doing this your style would be the best. This stands for the colors, animation and all the rest. You have your own original style, so you should stick with that. That's what I'm doing in my job, and its working great.

I would love to see the Turtles, Spitefire style !

Anyway man, I wish you the best of luck and success in this. And like always, you need any help (any that I could provide that is... ) don't hesitate.
