European Vacation side-season!

What's your opninion about the eauropean vacation episodes? I personally thought they were not that great. How do you think these episodes will be handled when released? They are a part of season 7 but take place during season 4 so should they be released with season 4? I personally hope they won't be a part of season 4. They should be released seperately as a side-season. What do you think?

I rather enjoyed the european episodes. It was a change of pace from the same old New York City setting. I was on cloud nine when I saw these on the USA channel when I was a kid. True in some of the episodes they could have gone with out Shredder and Krang while they where away on their vaction. But if nothing else you have to apprciate the the nicely drawn back grounds of the exotic places that they went to, It really brought out the life of the places they visited.

The one thing that stands in my mind about that season, was it had the worst animation with sort of dull colourings used. Yeah i agree, of the European episodes i have reviewed, the quality is much inferior to say, the 87 season episodes. As i said on my website, there is some confusion where these episodes should be placed in the episode order. I'm guessing there were made in 1989/1990 and ready to come out on TV in 1991. But it didn't get shown on TV until 1993?

What i like about the episodes, is it refreshes the cartoon with use of new settings, and i was interested to see what the turtles got up into in each country. Perhaps it would be a good idea of the European episodes being "bonus episodes" to Season 4 or 7 or whatever. However there are 16 of them, and it's own dvd would be preferred.

Uh, no. Where did you get that idea? There were 13. Nit-picky me discovered the 5 missing production numbers bookending them. After "THE BIG BLOWOUT", 2 or 3 were skipped (apparently written but not produced). Then either 3 or 2 were skipped before "PLAN SIX FROM OUTER SPACE". But, unfortunately, arranging the episodes by production isn't the right way to go about it. That would put the Mer-Dude ep right after the technodrome was lost in "SHREDDER TRIUMPHANT!". So, all we can be sure of is that the technodrome was on that little island during the euro-cruise eps. Apparently, the 'drome got off of that Cybertron planet in one of the episodes between "THE BIG BLOWOUT" & "TOWER OF POWER", and the turtles ended their vacation between "ELEMENTARY, MY DEAR TURTLE" & "PLAN SIX FROM OUTER SPACE"

Thats what i get for not checking if i was correct! Another thing i meant to say is, i would regard the Europe episodes as the least important season. On ninjaturtles.com, maybe a nottoo significant fact, is the sypnosis of the European episode is just a tiny paragraph compared to 10 or over paragraphs of a 1987 episode. But it's just gonna be a "wait and see" policy about whether all seasons will come out eventually hopefully completed in 5 years time.

No, the European Vacation episodes start exactly at the end of Plan Six from Outer Space. At the end of the episode the turtles find out they won their vacation from Greesy Edy's Pizza and the beginning of Tower of Power recaps it a bit. My opinion on the European Vacation episodes is some were really good and some were really bad. I'd say Artless is a strong competitor for the worst episode of the series.

True. Although I haven't seen all the EV episode, i can say i didn't love the ones I saw. Season 4 is much better. Do you think EV will be released before season or as a part of season 7?

Judging that they're following the guide on Ninjaturtles.com probably with Season 7. Though I'd prefer they'd do it with season 4. There actually is officially released VCDs of all the European Vacation episodes. I want to buy them but the only place I found that had them accepts Amex credit cards only.

Nicley drawn? THe Trivie fountain looks nothing like it does in real life. When I saw a picture of the thing on some news broadcast, it's this HUGE structure. The one in the show looks like something found in Epcot .

I agree, the colors do look kind of dull..But maybe that's how toons over there are drawn, since I think it was done in a dublin studio?

As far as non Shredder stories, this season has two of the WORST episodes of the series, and both are non Shredder. Northern Lights Out (the Viking episode, dull and boring) and Elementry, My Dear Turtle (Slow and doesn't make too much sense)

Venice

And all gondolas in Venice are black nowadays. But the TMNT episode "Venice on the Half Shell" had gondolas in various colour.

These were fun episodes I guess, but there was no fighting at all; at least none that I remember.

I liked the European Vacation eps. I wish they had gone to Germany...but noo....they skipped Germany. Bah

Altho there was a bit of a contradiction. In the ep where April is believed to be the lost Queen of Atlantis and in effect raises the city out of the water off the coast of greece (well begins to but Leo stupidly destroyed the amulet April was wearing). Well like a season later the TMNT meet Merdude and help him go to Atlantis (where he finds out he's the lost King). This time Atlantis is off the coast of Manhatten Island! WTF?! How can Atlantis be in 2 different places?!

One of my fave quotes is from Artless when the aliens are taking artworks of the past and the news mentions that Donatello's David was taken and Don goes "My what?!" thinking they're talking about him!

Germany and Atlantis

Irma says she likes Austria and the Danube when the Orient Express train goes through Austria, so they visit Austria. I can't remember them talking about Germany, but Bebop and Rocksteady blast a whole in the train wall with their guns and throw the TMNT off the train and to down towards the motorway ("Autobahn"), where they are near to be killed by the traffic, but manage to survive and fall down into the Danube. "Autobahn" is German for motorway, and German is mostly spoken in Austria, Liechtenstein and some parts of Switzerland.

Atlantis, maybe the Atlantis in the Greece episode is suppsoed to be the theoretic island/state of "Atlantis", and the other Atlantis is just named after that.

Continuity Question After Season 3 Finale...

Is Shredder trapped in Dimension X during these episodes? I read that he is on an island during the vacation?

Basically, EV chronologically should come after Season 3, Plan Six From Outer Space bridges into that arc. However, EV did not air until the 7th season. So does the real season 4 (out on DVD now) also continue from where Season 3 left off, with the turtles banishing The Technodrome and Shredder to Dimension X? Does it continue after the Big Blow Out, Plan Six From Outer Space, or from some other point? I'm just curious before I start watching season 4 on DVD.

We see in some of the episodes that the technodrome is on the same asteroid, except the asteroid seems to have a lot of vegetation and such but the portal is still being used and such. One thing I did like about the vacation episodes is that whenever scenes were in the technodrome, there was an echo on the voices, particularly Krangs since he was always in there and it added more to the schemes, I thought. My favourite episode of these was A Real Snow Job. It made Krang seem more evil than the surrounding seasons (3 and 4 and the rest of EV) and it was basically almost like an armageddon-like scenario (like that of the scheme in Shredder's Mom).

I honestly didn't see what the rage about these episodes were. They were sorta lost since they happened way after they were intended to.
