Questions regarding Spawn Comic

Hey everyone Just wondering If i could dig up some answers around here regarding the Spawn comic book series, and you guys usually seem to know everything so here it goes...Is this series still going or has it ended? And was it any good? I have watched the first two HBO dvd's and really enjoyed them(anyone know if the third is a good finale btw?), but does the comic book and HBO episodes share the same exact sotry line? Which one do you think is better? Any other info you could give me on the comic would be Greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot!!!

The series started to branch off from the comic to my knowledge. The 3rd DVD is cool but it cliff hangers because the show was canned. Sad news.

I like the Spawn Manga better then the actual series. It's just better on alota levels. The earlier issues of Spawn are great but the further into the series it gets I got bored. I highly doubt Image stopped making their #1 title but I don't know.

Still going strong past 150 issues. Things are brewing that you may not believe, too.

Spoiler:
Spawn killed Malebolgia, who killed Angela, and is now the new ruler of that plane of Hell. But, Spawn doesn't want the throne and left it abandoned. This new guy Mammon wants it, but is screwing with Spawn for some reason instead of taking it.

Spawn is no longer tied to Hell, but to the Earth, becoming Earth's guardian against Heaven and Hell and their inevitable battle.

Angels are warring in Heaven, and there's a group on Earth making trouble.

Also, Wanda gives birth to twins, who maim and massacre each other. Lately, it turned out that the twins were human manifestations of God and Satan, who actually act like brats.

I left a ton of things out, but if you're really interested, I highly recommend you reacquaint yourself with Spawn.

One thing I've always wanted to know is what happen to Cogalisto. I'm trying to catch up with the series to, and I've heard he was linked to the third party outside of Heaven and Hell or something.

Oh, man... I'll have to read up again to answer that one. I think he got killed or banished somewhere. Cog was a cool character and we never got the chance to learn his origin (other than the fact that he was a Hellspawn with a counter of 0:0:0:1).

As for current issues, if anyone remembers that cover from issue 77 (I think) where Spawn had wings, pick up the latest book, 161.

From what I've heard it kind of took a dip after the first 20 issues or so unless you are a big Spawn fan.

I have the first two trades. Older prints I found at Comic-Con, but I think they were re-released recently too. Fun to read and I like McFarlane's art.
