Geez, I wish we could get an announcement of the Lost Season DVD.
All we know it's coming sometime in early 2007. Well, why not release it just in time for Christmas? You know us hardcores will absolutely eat it up! It may be because not all 13 episodes are finished. Well, we know the first five are at least done. So their are 8 episodes that we don't know the status for. I really hope we get some kind of info soon. I'm dying to buy this DVD set! C'mon, 4kids and Mirage! Release it for Christmas!!!

Because is doesn't matter when it's released the target auidence isn't little kids so they can take their sweet ass time with it.
And they've showed episodes from around the whole season, so it's probly already done. |

Probably just figuring on it. Since The Lost Season isn't going to be aired on regular TV (save for "Ninja Tribunal", of course). |

I'm not figuring anything if it was kids they would have aired it on 4Kids TV. Not ONDemand and not only on DVD. I've seen a few episodes. It obviously appeals to teenagers. Espcially with how anime-ish it is.

Well... that -is- a possibility, sure. But On Demand is a simple-enough cablebox feature that kids who have it in there homes could watch the show just as easily as anyone else. Besides, the 2k3 TMNT also seemed geared more towards the 'older crowd' too. |

Just because one thing that is CLEARLY aimed at kids replaces something, doesn't mean that something was intended to go there either. Why else would it have been slated (pre FF) to run as a Saturday morning cartoon? If it really were meant for a more adult audience we'd be watching it on Adult Swim or something later in the evening.

Know you probably weren't meaning of my post, so put this as a simple response to make note (and clarify a bit).
Just meant the 'older crowd' piece, as for the more intricate stories (having depth, and a large continuity to the series). |

The new TMNT was pretty doomed to follow the kids path of things. Plus it would make more money. Shirts, toys, and such. And he already said FF was going to happen sooner or later. |

If the show hadn't been aimed predominently AT kids, FOR kids, it wouldn't have gone beyond one season. Look at what happened with Ghostbusters. Extreme Ghostbusters, while having some good adult oriented material, died after it's first season. Admittedly it wasn't anything on the original, but the kids that were MEANT to watch it had no idea what The Real Ghostbusters was. Look at Masters of the Universe. Exactly the same. And don't start on TMNT being the most violent cartoon at the time. If you look at the violence in TMNT then, look at other shows like the original Masters of the Universe, GI JOE, Thundercats, Dungeons and Dragons, Transformers, the list goes on. Good VS Evil will always make kids fight, it doesn't matter if it's Mutant against Mutant or Robot against Robot.
Bottom line is, you can't say "Because is doesn't matter when it's released the target auidence isn't little kids so they can take their sweet ass time with it." because it's a continuation of a show that was playing FOR a specific demographic at a target time to best penetrate that market. If the execs hadn't decided to bring FF up a season, the Lost Season would've happened at exactly the same time as FF is now, targeting exactly the same audience. As you and Laird said, FF was going to happen anyway, and obviously already had, otherwise they wouldn't've been able to bring it forward and keep up to pace. People need to get their heads around the fact that, from the VERY BEGINNING, this was a kids show, BUT like Batman before it, had an appeal to the older audiences. It was NOT made FOR US, otherwise, as I said, it would be playing later on in a specific timeslot where it's more accessible to older viewers. |

Thank you, Master Splinter, for those words of wisdom. I couldn't have said it better myself. While the origin of the entire franchise was not intended for children, I believe that was mainly Mr. Eastman's influence anyway. I could be mistaken though.

It was always aimed at kids. 4kids made it. Nuff said.
It was however a brilliant kids show and deserved better than it ended up with. This TMNT was no more "mature" than Superman and Batman which both aired on Saturday mornings. Saturday mornings didn't use to suck. It's simply unfortunate that TMNT ended up on Saturday mornings when the rest of the shows simply didn't compare. I think it worked fine on Miguzi as well but all and all it would have been best off on Toonami where it could be with other shows that pushed beyond the 6-11 demographic they were aimed at.
