figure painting!

hi! im kinda bored and what-not, and lets be honest. the original turtle figures are fun and what not, but they look pretty crappy, especially the weapons. i was thinking of painting some to make them look better, and as kinda a hobby to spend some time before i have tons and tons of projects due.

does anyone know what kinda paint i should get? any tips? i think acrylic paint is the kinda that'll stick to these guys maybe? any good online stores with cheap stuffs?

also, anyone recommend some color schemes or what not? the main thing on the turtles im looking to paint is the god-awful orange/brown weapons hehe. what colors do you think i should use for the handles? im going to get some metallic paint for the blades and what-not.

also, shredder looks horrible. check out this http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=16474

this looks like a good scheme for shredder. tips on what you think i should paint what color would be appreciated, or pictures of some you've done/seen yourself!

I dunno too much about painting model kits and have only sculpted and painted 3 models myself, but acrylic paint will stick to any plastic material like glue. You might want to tape off sections where you don't want paint to reach while painting for the most accuracy. Not sure about paints used for air-brushing if you're going to do that, as I've only used conventional brushes.

I found these awsome figures called Stikfas, they come unassembled with no paint and you put them together and paint them yourself. They're only 3 inches tall, but the articulation in them is amazing. Unfortunately, they're really expensive (I've seen them go for up to $15 for one figure) so it's gonna take while to build an army of these guys. I want the samurai, he come with katanas and armor, I'm thinking he might make a good Shredder. If you're into customizing figures, I HIGHLY reccomend these.
