Questions about the upcoming new Dreamwave TMNT comic
Ive read on here that a new TMNT comic to coincide with the cartoon is coming out, and that Dreamwave is doing it? This is of great news to me, as while the new black and white comic is a nice little nostalgic trip for fans...ehh...I want something a little more *ahem* modern. Im hoping this will be done in that fantasic Dreamwave anime cel like detailed look?
So a few questions: When is this coming out? Will it be a mini series? Is there any samples or articles/news about it online? Will it have that cool Dreamwave look to it? So thats basically it. I cant fidn any info about it on dreamwaveprod.com, tho its weird...as a year ago I remember thinking how cool itd be to have Dreamwave coem out with a TMNT comic, like they revived the Transformers look.

Well If you will like a kiddified version of the Mirage better than Mirage itself just because it's in color, Be my guest. The Black&White is part of what makes Mirahe what it is.

Yeah the new comic is based on the show, and is targeted for younger audience, So My guess is it will be kiddiefied Mirage. And Yeah I know The style in New volume is not quite as good as Lawssons earlier work, But he can draw the TMNT nicely.
But I seriously wonder why he draws humans like that... |

stop saying Dream wave will do kidiffied, IT WON'T. It may not be on par with the original series, but Dreamwave is targeted more on Adults than on kids, hell look at War With In

I read somewhere that IT IS targeted towards kids. I can't rememer where or was it official info or a rumor. Of course I hope it would be More like Ultimate-Spiderman than a second acrhie series...

Well, I doubt it'll be as infantile as the Archie Series seemed to be sometimes. Remember, that was based on a cartoon that was very childish to begin with. The new cartoon is a bit more dignified in its ways, and a bit more involved to begin with. So a comic based on the continuity is going to be a step of from the Archie Book just by association. But I doubt we'll be seeing crusing, mass carnage and wounds that're more serious that a gash or scrap (like the first few issues of the Mirage Series).
Sadly, though, with the way Dreamwave thoroughly, and anally, rotor-rutered the Transformers mythos, I'm fearful that while the Turtles may look kick ass in this book, there stories will read mature, but retarded. Characterization and dialogue are so very important to a successful comic tale, and with the Transformers comics, Dreamwave has exhibited neither. Just cool visuals. |

I'm not really looking foward to the Dreamwave comic. For one, the art in every Dreamwave book I've looked at is ugly as heck. I'll never understand why people love it so much. *shrugs*
Anyways, who's the writer? I heard Peter David. If that's so, then get ready for an interesting plot, forced dialouge, and near everybody snapping jokes. |

Ok yes the stories suck at Dreamwave I've never said other wise, but the stories never seem to be targeted at kids. Hell Every time any Megs is put near a Flesh bag he seems to kill it, we never saw that in archie, so their is the chance the books will kick ass. Besides howe bad can it be they keep needing to reprint books due to demand so someone must like their work.
If nothing else I may get a TMNT/TF crossover out of Dreamwave so I'm happy |

I finally found a little news tid bit about it online. Man, the words Dreamwave and 'kiddyfied' just doesnt make sense. First off, I dont care what anyone says...when you go to the latest comic's rack...what comics stand out as the most coolest looking, near anime cel looking(in that ghost in the shell sort of way) way? Dreamwave comics. I mean compare Dreamwave's TF to the old school comics. Heck compare Dreamwave to any other company out there graphics wise. Ok, I dont collect the new TF comics being as they all look the same and theres so many titles, but still...astonishing. Sadly I still see a lot of comics that look beyond dated.
Its 2003, not 1985! So I am very looking forward to this new TMNT comic. I really dont know why they tried to go with that awful new series. The originalseries worked so well as it was this epic long story arc, was th emid to late 80's, and was just really cool. Just thumbing through the latest TMNT comics I just dont get any sense of wonder or imagination, least not even close to what I get looking through Dreamwave titles. Oh and that horrific Archie comics series...oh my. Looking back I realize I wasnt even too fond of the cartoon, except for a few episodes here and there. I really thing the original b/w series and the first TMNT film is the best TMNT stuff weve seen thus far.

Well Im just telling what I have heard. I think someone said it was in wizard or Previews or something... The description said it is a comic for younger audience based on the new cartoon. But im not sure if that is 100% confirmed info.

It will almost certainly be "kiddified" (if ny that you mean no cursing blodd etc.). Look at Transformers. DW did an adult comic or more, because the adults are intersted in the older ones. The TMNT have an adult book. TF Armada is "kiddified". It's based off the new cartoon. So is the DW TMNT comic. It will still be enjoyable more than likely, but kiddified.

Yeah that's what Im guessing too. As I have said in every threadwith this subject, I read both Ultimate and Amzing Spider-man, And something like that would be cool for TMNT too. But the info we have been given it seems that it will be a second archie series.

Since the rumour is that Peter David will be writing it (and art by LeSean Thomas, according to Rich Johnston), I'm sure it can be written for kids without going as low as DW's Armada series...

Im just looking for an eye candy nice to look at TMNT title with a bit of direction. Mid 80's black and white stimpled TMNT(ie: the current series) just doesnt do it for me anymore.
