to open or not to open

so, whats your thoughts on this? i hate it that as soon as i open my figure, i cut its value in half. tommorrow my new figures will arrive, and i really wanna open 'em, so i guess i will. i think i've found a good mix...open them up, but keep the package and all the accessories in good condition. sound like a good tradeoff of fun and value? hehe

with older figures, its really a tough decision. since you cant buy them new at the store, the value on them fluxuates. if i buy an old figure still in card, even if i got it for a cheap price, id still almost feel bad about opening it up, just b/c i know that i paid extra for the fact that it was unopened. why cant they just make the figures in like ziplock bags, that'd be alot easier to deal with! hehe

oh well, just some thoughts. im gonna open every figure i ever get hehe, damn the value! bring the fun! =)

(and no, i dont play with them. i just like to set 'em up for display and what not hehe)

I'm gonna open all my toys. But I'm also gonna keep all the accessories and packaging in decent condition. (I love the packaging art.)

I don't really care about the monetary value of my things, I'm into personal value. But that doesn't stop me from keeping my old comics in plastic bags to sell fifty years from now. (Not the TMNT ones, although those are all in bags too, but the odd ones like Xena and Fathom and my Tomb Raider/Witchblade crossover. That one's gonna bring big bucks from the right collector.)

I have to admit...$6.99 is a tad high for a freakin action figure...

$4.99 would be much more reasonable

Open 'em up, who cares about them being sealed in the boxes. You can have fun with them, or you can stare at them just sitting there in the box. It's all about reinacting the battle scenes man!

I'm with Kali and Psycrow. I love opening up my action figs and making up different battle scenes for them (gotta make use of those nifty accessories ). I like the packaging too, so I save the cards once I take my figs out of the box.

I don't understand collectors...i mean geez at least you have the chance to get one, open it and play with it, that'd be the point of buying it.
Or maybe you don't care about the figures themselves and wanna let it sitting there so that you can sell it in ebay in MIC OR MOC or BAP or WEAPROEORE condition...whatever, if i get one i'll open it i might save the package but not to sell it, which noone would buy anyways but to keep it since it's cool looking...to me it has sentimental value aswell, not $$$ value, though i'm quite a materialistic person but that doesn't mean i'm gonna leave my toys sitting there in the package, if i wanna see toys in a package i go to a store.
IT SOUND BETTER IN ORIGINAL CROATIAN, BUT I DONE.
Now if you dont care about the thing and wanna sell it, fine whatever floats yer GOAT, personally i have some comics and trading cards that i dont care about but collectors will probably pay for so i'm selling all that in like 60 years when it got old and 'hard' to find or whatever

Well, since I don't have very much storage space, or much room to display figures, I take the miminalist approach. (which.. is not the best for hardcare collectors)

I plan to buy one of each, then I keep the ones I don't like on the card while taking out the one(s) I do like.

Of course, in fnadoms where there are lots of characters (like LotR), I just buy the ones I like the most... and then the ones that I like the most out of what I bought, I open up.

Confused yet?

The only reason why I'm tryin to get all the figures both sealed and open is to bring back some memories. The packaging was vintage 80s man. So I'm gonna have the carded ones kept packaged, and mess with the loose ones. Oh and pass them down to my kids/there kids/and so on. It would be cool for my future collection to be passed down through generations of my family. Having both carded and loose. Wow. Good times indeed.
