Interview with Tom Gray in Rocket Magazine
This magazine is pictured in today's update on ninjaturtles.com and I managed to find it tonight. Yay!
I'm not going to go indepth on the whole thing, but YOU SHOULD BUY THIS! It is actually a REALLY good interview with very few stupid questions. But I will share a few things. First thing that jumped out at me was how Gray refers to the long-time fans: Alums/alumni - I think that's a really neat way to put it! And I think it's a degree I've well deserved. Annoyance: Whoever transcribed the interview (I would assume the interviewer would do it) decided to spell Karai, "Kurai." Sheesh. They are contractually obligated to deliver a PG film. "[April] and Casey are kinda cohabitating as best we could with a PG. And it's an interesting relationship. Casey is still Casey, but April's gotten a little bit more sophisticated. She doesn't just want to hang with the Turtles that much, but she is still their foremost friend." The interview was probably a couple months ago, maybe a little less. Gray gives Sarah Michelle Gellar as the voice of April, but it's obviously not public info yet and he can't give the interviewer any of the other names. "So... March 23rd. I'm predicting 209-million domestic.." And that's Gray giving the estimate. Crap, if we really can get that much we will FOR SURE be getting a sequel. *happy thoughts* Those are the big things that jumped out at me, but it's seriously worth reading the whole thing.. go buy!

The "209-million" thing sounds like a joke to me. I don't think anyone expects a movie with that little advertising to make that much.

Honestly, the only lack of advertising thing that bothers me right now is the lack of a proper website. It would be nice to have a little more visual representation at the theaters, but it's still too early for most of the traditional forms of advertising.
And the toys are hitting stores in force. That's advertising right there.

I think once they offically announce the VA's for the Turtles(which they should have done months ago) they'll get a proper website up.
But really, all they need to do is hit the talk show circut, and they'll be good. |

How much money did the original TMNT movie make at the box office? I recall it doing very well, I wonder if the new movie can beat the original in terms of success.

It is another thread...
Here is a portion of my reply: The original TMNT movie made slightly over $25 million during the first weekend that it was on the big screen. In the long run, it made $135,265,915 (just in the USA).

^Also, in reguards to that 134+ million it made at the WW box office, it also was produced at around 13.5 million, according to box office mojo, so it's profit is quite considereable.
I would like it if the new TMNT brought in as much of a profit, but I dont think it can. I think it has potential to do well, just not as well as the original did. |

I was pretty surprised that there wasn't a TMNT trailer included with 'Happy Feet' back in November but that's the beauty of having digital projectors, you just drop the trailer in the playlist and bam it's there. How's that for a grass roots marketing campaign? |

Sounds awesome come work at a theater by me! I'd love to see a TMNT trailer before Casino Royal.

'Casino Royale' has some great trailers on it actually. We have required trailers for the first two weeks then after that it's fair game. So the current playlist has '300', 'Smokin Aces', 'TMNT' and 'Spider-Man 3'
We did have the vinyl banner up in the lobby but someone stole it |
