Your First Ninja Turtles Comic
I was browsing through the official web page when I thought of this topic about what your first TMNT comic was.
I guess technically my first comic was this collection of the TMNT Adventures mini series. ![]() I had a copy that came with a cassette tape of voice actors reading the comic. I think the voice acting is why I distinctly remember April O'Neil's line about having put on some weight when she's squeezing through the sewer drain, and almost confusing it with a line in the cartoon when it is only in the comic. I still have the cassette tape, and have found the first two original issues that became this collected book. My first single issue would have been issue 27. The TMNT site jogged my memory regarding this issue. http://www.ninjaturtles.com/comics/archie/27/27.htm ![]() I remember reading this issue for my first grade assignment about encouraging kids to read. I also remember as a kid being nitpicky about the fact that April apparently decided to get a pair of blue boots for a change. I don't think I saw the Mirage books until I was about seven or eight. I picked up a City At War issue and had no idea what was going on. |

I had both it and the Return of the Shredder comic on tape. I wanna say that was my first TMNT comic...I really don't remember if it was that or the Jaguar issue.

My first Turtle comic was the Archie Comic,TMNT adventures #10. I remember browsing through a local flee market and stumbling across it. I fell in love with it and made it my duty to collect the next issue and locate the issues I missed.
Ahhh sweet memories.....

My first was one of the martial arts training manuals - my friend gave that to me as a present a few years back, along with a copy of the 1990 TMNT soundtrack.
My first Mirage comic was Donatello #1, and I was ecstatic to find it. |

Archies TMNT Adventures #7 with the first appearance of Raph's wrestling costume. With all the Archie-influence in Tournament Fighters, shouldn't they have put at least Raph in his costume?

From what I recall, think my first was Archie's TMNT #20. Then went looking for the previous issues -- which, at the time, was rather easy for many of them. As, for some reason, Kay-Bee Toys had a bunch.
Though, strangely, had some trouble with finding issues 15 and 18. Wasn't til years later I finally got those. |

The first comic I ever read was issue five of the Image series. I remember being surprised by the violence and cursing, and being confused by the conditions of Don and Raph, and the fact that Leo and Mike had red bandanas on the cover added to the confusion. But I welcomed the violence with open arms.

I started with the Archie comics not long after they first started.
For Mirage my first issue was either Vol. 1 #17 or Michaelangelo #1, but those were just random issues I got. I didn't start reading the series regularly until quite a few years later.

Crumbs, I don't remember a particular issue. After seeing the interview with Eastman and Laird on 60 minutes back in 1991 or so, I was so intrigued with their mentioning the publications I went to the nearest comic shop and bought one each of all the TMNT issues they had.
One of them was the Michaelangelo Christmas issue where he has Klunk in his jacket. The other memorable find was the huge collected novel (phonebook style) of the first 20 issues or so. Was pretty broke after buying all those books, but I was very happy with them. Spent evenings reading them and was transported to another world.

My first issue would be an issue of the archie series. I forget which one, but it was around the time Raph ewas wearing that all-black costume.

When I first saw Raphael in that costume as a kid I was really confused. I really didn't have process of elimination down yet as a concept and was wondering if it was a 5th turtle or something. |

Mine was volume 1 #16 by Mark Martin...the one with the weird alien girl. I LOVED this issue at the time. The store Hills had stocked hundreds of this issue, and I read it over and over again. It's worn and tattered now.

I have no idea what was the first TMNT comic I read when I was younger...Though I still vividly remember the first issue I purchased a few years back when I got the interest to start collecting;
![]() A "prestige" edition of the TMNT movie comic book adaptation. Incredible condition, beautiful colouring and incredible quality overall. 'Still one of my favourite TMNT comics. Last edited by Ecto Jedi; 02-10-2007 at 07:41 PM. |

I'm not sure what exact one it was but it was an archie comic. The local grocery story would have a rack of comics and they would only carry the archie version but of course that didnt matter because for quite awhile I didnt even know that Mirage was around.
Needless to say most of those comics I bought at the time have been sold, thrown away or torn apart or colored on.........heh |

either the fifth issue of the Archie series or the final part of Return to New York. Probably the Archie issue as I didn't know the Mirage versions wore red bandanas until they showed up in an issue of Savage Dragon.
