Ign looks at the tmnt tv series.

In honor with the big release of the turtles 4th big screen action pack adventure Ign took a look at all the cartoons and live action series.

http://tv.ign.com/articles/774/774796p1.html

Also IGN reviewed the dvd also and gave it a terrible score but call it a dvd for the hardcore fans.

To be honest, they say "The Foot Soldiers Are Revolting" is one of the better episodes, which it is, and the third season was pretty hot. There following what any die-hard TMNT or animation fan would have said around that period, that the show HAD jumped the shark by that point, and was going in complete circles.

IGN gets knocked a lot, and sometimes with good reason (their s*itty Sonic SATAM review), but being someone whose never thought highly of seasons four to six of the original, I can see where there coming from. Not all of it is bad, but most of it simply is'nt as consistent.

I do like their advance review of the movie:

Quote:
Returning to the silver screen in TMNT, the Turtles thankfully take themselves only slightly more seriously than their creators did two decades ago, in so doing creating what is not only a worthy extension of their legacy, but by far the best Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie yet.

Ok...so the series review breaks down NT:TNM and it's team up with PR:IS, but keeps TMNT 2k3 and TMNT:>> together....um...yeah.

I liked the series reviews and the early look at TMNT but the season 4 review seemed a bit much. Though it is weaker than the past 3 seasons, I still found myself enjoying it, and laughing quite a bit, thought I could have done without the musical styling of Howie.

I really enjoy season four, I don't think the show went down in quality so much as it delivered it in a much diffrent way that can objectively be just as good and in some ways better than it first three seasons. People need to stop putting the old toon up against standards that it could not possibly meet and start looking it it and judging it on its own premise. And when people do that you'll see that season four offered quite a bit, as well as other seasons before seven. TMNT season four beat the hell out of other shows of that time in my opinion.

well, thats my two cents...

OOOrr they could objectivly judge the season as it is and say, like I do, that it has only a few good episodes, and the remainder are'nt that good or as consistently entertaining

Yeah, well I doubt anyone in the States were watching The Dreamstone and Avenger Penguins back then, which WERE better than season four

you make good points. As far as being an action cartoon goes, the toon deviated from that in season four and on. I think my bias for season four is that it was my first introduction to the series. And at the time i thought the turtles was just a quirky show about turtles who make smart-ass quips while trying to stop a glorified idiot from taking over the world whistle out landish events where happening at the same time. When I looked back at the older seasons I remember thinking how less landish the situations where, and thought that was weird. I did enjoy the whole action aspect when season seven premiered, and thought that the show had hit its happy medium of action and quirky humour. I think that is why season seven is my favorite.

And as for Avenger Penguins and The Dreamstone, you are right I don;t think i ever really saw those as a kid, so maybe i would have liked that better than season four classic TMNT.

Season 7, from the 2 episodes (Legend of Koji and White Belt Black Heart) I've seen recently, was awesome. Lots of character building and great stories.

You must not've seen "Night of the Rogues". Ugh.

But I must agree, "Legend of Koji" is one of my favorite episodes of the entire series.
