how do you consider this movie a success?

What has to happen for this movie to be a success in your opinion?
Does it have to have a kick ass story and ninja butt kicking action to the max?
Does it have to have a lot of humor and cowabunganess?
Does it just have to be a tmnt movie?

what do u want from it? and what do u expect?
what to you determines if this movie is a failure?

The answer to question 4, yes, just simply being a TMNT movie is enough. For me, it just has to give every turtle an equal chance to shine, that's all I ask, other than that, it can go anywhere it wishes.

A lot of people say success is just how they like it as an individual, but to me that's just personal opinion, which is very important but not what I think of a successful film. Success to me is a blend of how much money it makes and what the critics/general population thinks. So far the critics are down on it, but if it makes a lot of money and all the turtle fans love it, then it accomplished a lot, and a sequel would spell success for this type of franchise movie.

These days though just the fact that it got past the drawing board and into theaters is hugely successful. There are literally hundreds of thousands optioned movies but of those only a couple hundred will be made a year. TMNT has 4 movies so far so I think the franchise has been a huge success and this film should follow suit.

It is a success on how the characters are presented, how the storyline pans out and how every element-music, action, editing,etc. complement each other making it enjoyable to watch.

Not by the box office $.

if I come out the theater with a huge smile on my face and desperatly wanting a sequel it is a success to me

The movie has to get a 4/5 from me for it to be a success in my eyes. As long as the plot is decent and there is at least 4 excellent fights then this movie is a definite winner.

Well the third Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film opened at #1 at the box office and still made a profit yet many people consider it a flop. Why? Because most of the people that watched it disliked it.

For me the current film doesn't have to be an uber commercial success for it to be classed as a success. Afterall there are many movies out there that do better on DVD or gain popularity over time.

A long as it makes enough money and is recieved well by the fans then to me that's what will make it a success. Let the crirics and those that are stuck in the 80's be damned.

Hmm I've never heard anyone call the original movie a flop. Most of the people that saw it disliked it? Can I ask what you're basing this assumption on?

TMNT 3 may not have been a flop $$$-wise, but fan wise it was.

Oops my bad. Yeah that movie was so-so. It actually isn't as bad as people make it out to be, I mean we got new villains, ancient japan, new supporting characters. Just not a great movie overall though. I'd consider it a flop too.

Supporting actors and new villians that weren't very interesting and generic. But It's not that bad. I KNOW that TMNT will be better in terms of story and character interaction. Whether it makes a lot of money is up to the fans.
