Is there a real connection between TMNT and Daredevil?

Hey guys, somethings been bugging me for awhile. I thought I remember reading somewhere that Daredevil got his powers after pushing a old blind man out of the path of a speeding truck, when the truck turned sharply a container of green ooze bounced out smacking him in the head and knocking him out. The container then continued down the street where it met 4 baby turtles and eventually a rat. So does this mean that there is a real connection between the Marvel characters and the Image characters? Or am I just crazy? Or both?

First of all.. IMAGE CHARACTERS! Good lord... They are Mirage characters. And TMNT origin does parody Daredevil.

parody...

What?! I have never heard about this. Not surprising since I know little of every aspect of the Turtles.

But what did the Turtle stuff have to do with Daredevil?

The first issue of TMNT was a parody of Daredevil and Roninn comics. There are many things parodied like "master stick" or ninja clan "The hand" And the origin of course.

Let's see...

*checks through the first issue*

"Splinter" is from Daredevil's master/teacher Stick.
The Foot is a evil ninja clan, just like The Hand.
"And struck the young man near his eyes."
And the cover is based on the first issue of Miller's Ronin...

Eastman and Laid liked Daredevil. Not too surprising then that the TMNT are similar. TMNT was a parody of Daredevil, as has been mentioned before.

Oh No! I typed Image! Sorry guys, I did mean Mirage. I love the old Mirage comics, and that whole Daredevil thing was on my mind, which is why I thought maybe in the new series they meant Mikey would eventually meet a real superhero: Daredevil!

Yeah, I think it was pretty cool how Kevin and Peter tied in the origin of the TMNT with the origin of DD. I'd love to see a crossover.

Well since the origins are tied together, what did the DD comic say the ooze was? In the Mirage comics the Utroms were transporting it from their crash site, and it was "lost". Since TMNT was a sort of parody off that I'm sure that there is some other explination as to what the ooze was. Too bad the Utroms didn't get around to Marvel...

I don't think anybody cared much if you carried around radioactive waste on the streets in the 60s Marvel universe...

What Daredevil characters use the same weapons as the Ninja Turtles?

And, is is true that The Claw, Daredevil's villian, inspired Shredder?

I think Daredevil has used nunchucks in the past. I've only got a handful of DD comics, and I can't remember much from them.

O discovered the first issue of Electrka strat out looking rather familar to one of the early Mirage issues too. So reminded me of the part were Raph is staking out the area to give Saki a messgae. I found out one of my co-workers is a big DD fan, so one Christamas he got me this reprint of the first issue to Electrka. I haven't seen the first issues of DD to comapre that much.

But.. i had noticed on the Marvel site last year, they actually had the first issues up for you to look through. Dunno if it's still up, but here's the links.

But I just love how they have the flash features to show off the whole comic. Also noticed the have the movie adaptation comic up for viewing!
