TMNT and Fantastic 4

I was watching the first Fantastic 4 movie and noticed a lot of similarities between these two foursome teams.
Ben Grimm/The Thing = Raphael
Johnny Storm/Human Torch = Michaelangelo
Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic = Donatello
Sue Storm (Richards)/Invisible Woman = Leonardo
I know Mr. Fantastic is the leader, but he just has so many similar qualities to Donatello, and Invisible Woman is very straight-laced and serious stuff, like Leo. The Thing is a nice guy, but also a loyal protector and kind of the tough guy of the group, like Raph. And The Human Torch is always making jokes and egging Thing on, like what Mike does with Raph.
Some of you will probably disagree with my logic, like you may think Human Torch is more of Raph and Thing is more of Mike and Mr. Fantastic is more Leo and whatnot, but I stand by my logic.
If Raph and Mikey were arguing and it got heated and looked like it would turn into a fist fight, who would you imagine coming in to break up the fight, Leo or Don? Of course, Leo. In the Fantastic 4 movie, Thing and Human Torch fight and who comes in to break it up, Invisible Woman. Mr. Fantastic is a leader who is kinda distant from the others, like he works out his plans without being near the others while the others are either fighting or trying to stop the fight. Mr. Fantastic is kind of a pushover. The more I thought about it, The Fantastic 4 seemed kinda like how the Ninja Turtles would be if Donatello were the leader. When Don was the leader in the OT episode, Take Me To Your Leader, he calculated for a long time before coming to a decision about what to do, which is how Mr. Fantastic works as a leader, and Invisible Woman just follows orders and doesn't question them, which is something Leo would do if he weren't leader, and The Thing sometimes questions what the leader's plans are, but in the end does as he's told, like Raph. Don would be a leader, Raph and Mike would argue and Leo would be the straight-lace one who always follows orders and makes the others look bad sometimes and breaks up the fights between Raph and Mike.

Anybody agree or have something to say about it?

Even as "The Thing", Ben Grimm is still the most normal of the Fantastic Four by far.

On the other hand, I do not think there is such a thing as a "normal" Turtle. All 4 of them are weird in their own ways.

I like the Fantastic Four a lot and will be watching the new movie on Sunday. But while it is the Marvel team I like best, I have not gotten into them like I have gotten into the TMNT. Too many series and universes to follow.

The four personality types of the TMNT aren't particularly unique; you can actually find the same basic four personalities in many foursomes.

I just remembered the movie showing Mr. Fantastic analyzing every little detail about every little step before actually taking a step, which is kinda how Donatello lead the team, so I thought, "This is how the Turtles would be if Don were the leader," in which case Leo would be like the one who follows all the orders and stuff and stops the fights between the others.

Usually in foursomes there is a "normal" one- a Sensing Judger. The Turtles lack one of those. There are two Sensing Perceivers, an iNtuitive Feeler (two if you count Splinter), and an iNtuitive Thinker. I think Eastman and Laird did this on purpose to show how odd and unusual the Turtles are.

In the Fantastic Four, Ben Grimm would be the SJ, Johnny the SP, Susan the NF, and Reed the NT.

And since two of the Fantastic Four are romantically involved, later married, to compare the FF to the TMNT would just end up drawing disturbing comparisons anyway.

I agree cowbell. The personalities seem to be quite generic when it comes to teams. x-men, fantastic 4, and tmnt all share similarites which is probably why people stay true to the advice, if it works, stick with it.

Yah, Ben = Raph. I wrote a one shot of them two meeting. They're both in NYC, why not?

They both have style, big coat & hat lol!

Johnny's a little bit Raph too, but alot Mikey. He is short tempered. But he sure has Mike's big fat ego and likes to egg on Ben for reaction.
I love the scene in part 1 - Johnny's being interviewed after his stunt with the bike; Ben's having a fit but then they get there....they argue and then Ben turns to get out of the situation before he hurts Johnny, but then a ball of flame hits him...wham! "Did you just-"? Mike Chiklis did that scene perfectly....

I love Ben almost as much as Raph, my male tortoise is Ben (his new g/f is Alicia) and I have a 18" maquette of the movie Ben right here on my desk. He guards my computer

Regarding foursomes, I would imagine the standard distribution to have:

1 Turtle be very much like Splinter
2 Turtles be somewhat like Splinter and somewhat not like him (to varying degrees, not necessarily equally so or with the same similarities and differences)
1 Turtle be very little like Splinter

But in the Turtles case, it is:

1 very much alike
1 somewhere in the middle
2 very little like him!!!

I wonder why this not-standard distribution was picked for their personalities.

I...fail to see the diffrence in those two approaches. Kevin and Peter were big Kirby fans so it's not impossible some of the FF was used, but the X Men and Daredevil probably played a bigger role given what they ware parodying at the time.

Yes, the Marvel comic ran from 1970 to the mid 90's when Marvel
dropped the property due to poor sales.
