TMNT 3 Alternate Opening

Here is the alternate opening of TMNT 3, which is from the French version.



Assuming you're familiar with the scene/movie, you'll notice that generic dance scenes have replaced Michaelangelo's use of nunchucks.

Apologies for the extremely ghetto recording, because not only is it just me pointing my digital camera at my TV, but my VCR sucks - The tracking is horrible and it literally squeaks.

If anyone can confirm a DVD edition that has these changes (French or any other language), I'd love to know.

And here I was expecting something really "alternate". Thanks though Rose. It's nice to see the French get an even worse opening than we do. No chuck Mikey is a lot worse than what we got. Overall, I don't want to start any movie 3 hate but I just want to say, if the costumes were better and Casey had a more appropriate role, not to mention the lack of really corny jokes (even for ninja turtles) then this isn't a bad film by any means. I think most people are just turned off by the costumes and horrible humor. But like I said, not really trying to start a movie 3 hate thread. Thanks Rose for this trip down memory lane.

The quality made me think of a TMNT version of The Ring video XD

Yeah, I agree that it's mostly the costumes that turn people off from this movie (although if you watch what the Angry Nintendo Nerd has to say about it, it's hard to disagree with him).

Overall I don't think it's that bad. I think perhaps the biggest failure (ignoring the costumes) is that the movie seems to have been written to be not much more than a constant stream of one-liners instead of something with a little more depth. This is especially obvious in an early draft of the script, which has even more of these one-liners - all of which are horrible and some of which are extremely out of character. The final movie is a masterpiece compared to what it could have been.

I too thought this would be a different opening as well lol. The costumes were probably the worse, next would be the one liners. There were some good ones though. I don't know. It just can't compare to the first one lol

Heh, the Angry Video Game Nerd's Review of the TMNT3 is one of my favorite videos on the net. It continues to crack me up even though I've watched it so many times. Sometimes when I'm at work I'll just put my headphones on and play the video in a minimized window.

I don't agree with everything he says. Mostly, I don't mind the movie taking place in ancient Japan and I didn't see it as necessary to include cartoon/comic characters. But everything else he says I feel is bang on.

I also really like the video because part of it is kinda like a TMNT movie mini-documentary.

Oh yeah and thanks for the clip. I can not believe that people get so up in arms about Nunchaku. You don't see kids in the US making them and beating each other up with them.

Although, they are EXTREMELY illegal to carry in pretty much the whole country. In Arizona for example, nunchaku are considered "prohibitive weapons" and are lumped together with explosives and automatic weapons. You can own them for demonstration purposes, but you can not carry them on your person. In fact, if you have a concealed weapons permit you can conceal carry everything on you that you could legally own: handgun, shotgun, rifle, knife, switch blade, collapsable baton, sword, etc. However nunchaku are the exception. Even though you can legally own them, you can not carry them concealed on your person, even with a concelaed weapons permit. Isn't that funny?

WTF?! I never heard any such thing. When did American law become synonymous with absurdity? So, this law doesn't apply to Mikey simply because he isn't human, right?

I think nunchucks are absolutely illegal in California. But despite this, I think generally they're treated as you describe for Arizona, but there may have been some cases where they've been confiscated from people just for possession.

I honestly don't know whats the big deal with the hole nunchuk issue, I do own nunchucks and I also practice with them in class and I have never heard of such law or any sort of warning from our teacher , I mean I don't carry them around unless I have to take them to class or so but anyways I think it would be way more dangerous to be carrying a sai for example....anyways poor Mike they stole his thunder

Anyways thanks for the vid Rose I can say I still do watch that movie from time to time...even tho I agree with all the costume situation , I guess my biggest dissapointment would be splinter he looks like a stuffed toy

You want to know what's even more absurd? If you were to go through the background check and pay the tax, you can actually purchase an automatic weapon in AZ, thus removing its "prohibited weapon" status. So, theoretically in AZ you could legally carry an automatic pistol, rifle, or submachine gun. YET, you still couldn't carry nunchaku! Granted I've never heard of anyone that has done this. Full-auto weapons are expensive beyond belief and require a pretty rigid background check. But just saying that it is possible.

And I'm sure if the police caught Mikey, I think they'd be less concerned about his possessing a prohibited weapon and more about the fact that he's a giant talking turtle.

I did a bit of poking around.

CALIFORNIA PENAL CODE, SECTION 12020, Subdivision a, Paragraph 1 says, "Any person in this state who Manufactures or causes to be manufactured, imports into the state, keeps for sale, or offers or exposes for sale, or who gives, lends, or possesses any nunchaku (and a bunch of other goodies) is punishable by imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding one year or in the state prison"

However, Subdivision b, Paragraphs 3 and 4 state, "Subdivision (a) does not apply to any of the following: (3) The possession of a nunchaku on the premises of a school which holds a regulatory or business license and teaches the arts of self-defense. or (4) The manufacture of a nunchaku for sale to, or the sale of a nunchaku to, a school which holds a regulatory or business license and teaches the arts of self-defense."

Now I'm not a lawyer, but it looks like you can only possess nunchaku in CA if it's on the premises of a martial arts school. Which means technically you're breaking the law if you keep them in your home. However, keep in mind that it's almost impossible to enforce unless you give authorities a reason to search your home. It looks like New York has similar laws banning possession of chucks in your home. I’m not sure if they make exceptions for dojos. I didn’t look.

Those laws are fairly draconian IMHO. Most states at least let you keep them in your house.

I think it's because unlike swords and sais, kids can easily manufacture nunchaku out of pipe/wood and some rope/chain. Maybe the ninja turtles or Bruce Lee caused a chuck-epidemic back in the day? I'm not sure.

Yesyes, this sounds right. And I think it's having them in their homes that a veryvery small number of people have been charged with.

I assume that the law doesn't apply for toys, though.. 'cause I'd be breakin' the law several times over. Although if I had the opportunity I probably would like to study the real thing.

well ...so far I've had no problems, there's actually a martial arts store nearby and they usually just ask you from which school do you come from.

In reality something that really bothers me is that if you visit chinatown they have all the weapons for sale and they do sell them to just anyone , one time I was at one of those stores and some kids came in without their parents and wanted to buy nunchuks clearly they didn't know anything about how to use them or what they where looking for anyways the lady at the store just sold them to them I was really shocked
