Cory Feldman and Secret of the Ooze...
I was listening to the radio this morning when the hosts mentioned that Corey Feldman and the "other Corey" who was a hit at the time ( and from what I understand, a friend of Feldman's) have a reality tv show. (I didn't catch the station it airs on.)
Anyway, they decided to play an audio clip of it. In the clip, Feldman is trying to get the other Corey out of a slump (something about the two of them not being in "The Lost Boys 2"...) and he mentioned "TMNT 2: The Secret of the Ooze", making a comment that he knew how the other Corey felt, because he himself felt hurt when he wasn't asked to come back to do Secret of the Ooze. I admit, the TMNT fangirl in me was fully paying attention at this point, was kind of excited at the mention of TMNT (despite it being about the movie in the 90's trilogy that I liked the least)... But, now I'm confused? Why wasn't CF asked to come back to do Secret of the Ooze, but was asked to do the third film? I thought I had heard that he was in rehab at the time or something like that, but his comment implied otherwise. Thoughts? |

According to the timeline Feldman gives, wouldn't he have gotten clean before the voice work for Ninja Turtles? I always assumed that he didn't do TMNT 2 because of drugs, but according to an interview his time in rehab was in 1988 and 1989.

Being a guy, I didn't follow the Corey's......so I don't know.
But I was thinking about this last night. I think that Donatello 2 fit the Character better than Corey Feldman ever did, although I do like the voice he did for the character. I almost wish they brought in the second guy for the third movie..

^ Haha my thoughts exactly. Though since the third film was the worst of the three it didn't much matter who voiced the turtles at that point.
Was Leo's VA the same for III as they used in Movie 1?

Yep. Leo's voice was the same in all three. So was Mikey's. The only voice-replacements were Don in Ooze, then Raph & Splinter in III.

^ Did they turtles voices sound a little different in Ooze than they did in Movie one to anyone else (excluding Don)? I always thought they used different VAs.

According too the official site, Raph is different in two. But it's so close, one can't tell if so..

Raph changed through out the trilogy. Kevin Clash was replaced (along with Jim Henson's Creature Shop...stupid move) for 3. Not sure why the Feldster wasn't Donnie in SOTO, but I know one person on these boards who was glad...*coff*Jo*coff* In all fairness TMNT 1's Donnie was to "Three Stooges" at least by TMNT III Feldman played Donnie as a nerd....sorta.

I remember back then Corey was flying high wasted all the time and was in detox at the time; he was having ar ought time back then either way. Maybe they didn't want a known druggie doing a Henson job? I dunno. I think he coulda played a really good geekoid Donnie, the writers just simply didn't give him the time of day. Don was cute in TMNT1 either way.
Raph: 1 Josh Pais 2 Laurie Faso 3 Tim Kelleher 4 Nolan North Of course, the best voice: Josh.

I must be in the minority. I thought Feldman's Don was good in TMNT1. Oh well.

I liked Feldman's Don, too, even though they showed him as being more of a stooge than a genius in the first one. He had just a couple little bits in the movie that would in some way imply that he might be a little smarter, like April asking him for help before Casey offers, or the idea that it's him working on the truck while Raph is unconscious (Raph being the one who works on the truck in the comics). Also the bit about where he, structurally speaking, says it wasn't a good time for more Foot to come in. Any others? That's offtopic though...

I always thought that since most of Don's technical ability came from studying foot technology in the comics and such that that is where he got his technical ability from. Its not like he could just go enroll at ITT Tech or something I think they did a good job of showing that he was interested in the more techy and mechanical stuff without making him unbelieveably smart. oh and i liked cory as donnie. I just always assumed after the first one was so successful that he probably asked for more money and so they made the sequels without him just like Crispin Glover and Back To The Future. |

I'm glad he wasn't in 2 I hated his Don. He sounded like a chain smoker. Then again I think I'm the only person on Earth who liked Turtles 2 the best but I have a very good reason and since I've posted them so many times already I'll spare you all.

I agree with jerome. There wasn't much technology or gadgets for him really to act like a genius in the first movie.

I used to like SotO better, but over time TMNT 1 has remained good while I've gotten bored with SotO. And I'd personally like to hear why you think the sequel is better.

you guys make it sound like it was Corey's fault Donnie was the way he was, he's only the voice not the writer. Writers didn't give him his proper characterization, they made him immature as Mikey. They both seemed like 14 year old goofs. If the writers actually wrote Don right, I think Corey could have done a decent brainiac.

This may just be because I grew up knowing Donnie's the smart one, but he seemed smart to me in the first movie. He at least seemed like someone who read a lot, coming up with "bossa nova" and "bodacious." They had a phone and lights and stuff in their lair. I've always assumed those were products of Donnie, but it wouldn't really have been conducive to the plot to show him working on, say, installing a phone.
