roger ebert and the TMNT
So now that all the Seiskel and Ebert reviews are online i watched all the TMNT reviews for films 1-4....
does anyone else sense that Ebert has some sort of misplaced hatred toward these movies and the turtles themselves? I mean they are down right mean when reviewing these movies. Attacking not only the movies and the property but also the fans. anyone else notice that? Like maybe they have some deep rooted issues with these movies...I mean they were nicer to battlefield earth than to any of the TMNT movies Last edited by jerome; 08-02-2007 at 01:15 PM. |

I think they simply just don't get it. Its just not his/their type of thing is all. I also noticed in that review for the first film that Ebert seemed to not be a big fan of the turtles origin lol. Oddly enough though I was reading Ebert's review for the Simpsons and he said something somewhat positive about the turtles movie:

DUH. I refered to it as siskel and ebert because if you actually go to the website that just opened putting all their reviews online (atthemoviestv.com) it has all the siskel and ebert plus all the Roeper and guests reviews. Siskel and ebert reviewed 3 of the four movies thus my referene to siskel. thanks for pointing out the obvious though |

What website is this? Because I want to see these reviews.
I've only seen the TMNT review and man they really hated it, knowing them they'll probably put it like at number two on this years worst movie list just cuz they totally hate them. I actually want to see what they say about the earlier movies.

I respect Ebert and he usually has good opinions. The TMNT review I saw was on his show but he wasn't there so two douche bags did it and they made comments about it's fan base being "brain injured"
They were on their "300" high and expected to see decapitation. Plus for some reason yes they hate turtles. And the reason behind that is simply because turtles was a fad, and they always hate on fad movies even if their good. On top of that they obviously have never seen the adult side of turtles so all they saw in TMNT was a kids franchise trying to appeal to adults by darkening the style up. |

It's one thing to review the movie, but to insult people and be incredibly harsh for no reason is bull.

People people people....
Critics are ALL Jerks. Unless it's some incomprehensible French Clap trap or something stupid they pretend to like to "Keep it real" they give everything a bad review. I think calling us "Brain Injured" is a joke. now if it's any fan base that's brain injured it's people who love raucous family comedies with more fart gags than lines of dialogue, and people who like cross dressing Fat Suits. I do feel hurt, but guess what? Ebert loved both retarded "Fast and Fureous" movies, and they are the worst films I can think of. Ebert once gave a bad review to Great muppet Caper, which I think was the best of the first three movies. So take this crap with a grain of salt. BTW, they gave that Animal House ripoff "Super Bad" a great review last night... shows they are full of integrity.

If I'm not mistaken, Ebert actually liked TMNT, but not the first three films.
I'm speaking of Ebert himself, not the actual show reviewers. EDIT: Ahh here it is. This review was written by someone else, but it's Roger Eberts review of the movie. He was recovering from surgery, so it was one of his very few reviews since getting out. http://www.suntimes.com/entertainmen...tles23.article The review even mentions how he never liked the original 90's movies. -X-

that's what i figured. in his review of the simpsons movie he mentioned that ninja turtles moved him marginally and with the way he trashed the other films it makes since that it would be tmnt that moved him
