Comics Relations

Hi!

Can you tell me if there is any type of history connection between Archie Comics' TMNT Adventures Series 1989 - 1995; TMNT Mini Series 1988 - 1996; Mighty Mutanimals 1991 - 1993; TMNT Specials 1991 - 1994 ?

By the way TMNT Digests 1993 - 1994 are simply compilations of TMNT Adventures Series 1989 - 1995 right?

Thx

There is some to TMNT's main series and Mighty Mutanimals Mini-Series and Series (as the Mini-Series guest-starred Raph, and the Series had one cross-over with TMNT; and of course the Mutanimals starting off in TMNT, then having their own series, and back to TMNT again).

The other Mini-Series, and the Specials tend to be self-contained stories.

The original miniseries were adaptaions of TV episodes. They were in continuity, but not necessary, as the original stories start in issue 5.
Of the various spin offs, I'd recommend Mutanimals, and the first April O'Neil mini, as they take place in specific points of the TMNT Adventures series, and effect future events.
(actually, the mutanimals issues should be read alternately with the TMNT issues of the same months, as in some cases, especially the mini series, you miss events important to each.

The digests are just compilations, starting with issue 5.

Hi!

I've just download the entire seasons (1-10) of the classic TNMT... When I was a kid (6 years, 20 now lol) i've bought here in Portugal some comics and watch some of the cartoons... Now i've recently "start" the collection by buying on ebay issues 2;3;4;5;6;7;16;17;31;36;46 but the american edition, and I want to get all the issues (72)... So i've asked this questions to know what to read and when...

Thanks for all the answers

ps: sorry for my english :S

How about the "Specials" anthologies? What are they exactly?

And where does the April O'Neil miniseries take place?

How about "Year of the Turtle"?

That's the original Mini-Series (which adapts the beginning of the Classic TMNT cartoon).
The April Mini-Series are another thing (there are 2 - April O'Neil, and April O'Neil: The May East Saga).

True!

I've saw it on the official web site (very good)... So that April comics, are they some how related with the original story or with the TMNT Adventures series?

There is a little connection to the main TMNT comic.

TMNT Adventures itself began with the Mini-Series you displayed and the first 4 issues of the regular series being adaptations of Classic TMNT 'Toon episodes. Then from issue 5 onward had all-new stories.

This?
"After returning from a long absence (as detailed in TMNT Adventures #28-31), April is fired by her angry boss, Murdoch Maxwell, for being unreliable. As April packs her belongings and takes the subway home, she reflects upon the events that lead to her dismissal..."

It's not absolutly necessary, but it's a sort of sequal to a story line started in the TMNT Adventures series, and there is something that happens to April that is carried on through the rest of the series.
Most of the other minis, 'the may east saga,' the 'donatello and leatherhead,' etc. have no effect on the series and can be safely skiped.

So I intend to collect the:

- TMNT Adventures
- The 4 Mini-Series (Where TMNT Adventures began)
- Mighty Mutanimals

What do you think?

ps: These were some of the comics that I've bought here in Portugal (no my picture), published by Fleetway.

Isn't that the British version? I remember the Swedish version used some of those covers, but we didn't get close to having all the stories published.. Not sure if all the stories were published in the UK..
