Question about the Ancient One

Does anyone know what his real name is.

On the show, all they refer to him as, is the Ancient One. Neither Splinter or the Tribunal refers to him as his real name which is strange, since Splinter is his peer and the Tribunal were once his masters.

Does the comics ever make it known what his real name is?

Just wondering, thats all.

The Ancient One was never in the comics.... except a cameo in one of the TMNT movie books but that doesn't count...

I think his Japanese name may mean "Ancient One". Like my given name means "noble".

how come the ancient one doesn't fart any more? Did the writers forget about that little quirk about him or was the ancient one just farting on purpose?

He was farting and being obnoxious on purpose in order to throw Leonardo off. He wanted to make sure that Leo did not recognize him easily. Splinter had said nothing but good things about the Ancient One- but the Ancient One wanted to give Leo the extra challenge. He thinks the whole journey is part of the healing process.

Probably testing Leo's patience too, like Scandia said. Teaching him that there are more to things that the surface would indicate.

Yeah I agree with this. But jeez, what an unpleasant way to test some ones patience with I wonder why the ancient one chose flatulance in particular to teach Leo a lesson

Probably because it's the most disgusting thing there is. What better way to test someone than to do the worst possible thing to them

The ancient one is disturbed

So why not belching instead of farting? There both rude gas based bodily functions and I think belching could have been just as offensive as farting to piss Leo off other than...farting, ewww!

I think the writers are disturbed.

that part almost made me lose my soda. It was kind of a cross between eww and LOL Poor Leo he kept getting slapped around and humilated in that episode.

I thought it was funny when the ancient one farted so hard that he blew a bunch of leaves and dirt around under him
