The Sword of Tengu

What is the connection between the Sword of Tengu and the Tengu Shredder? Did the writers have this planned from the begining?

Afaik ch'rell forged this thing as part of his exploit of the legend of the original tengu shredder and it has no real connection to the demon shredder.

I could be wrong on this one though.

The secret origins story line shows the utrom shredder created it out of materials from the fallen Utrom Starship. Plus, if you look closely at the hilt, there is an utrom at the end of it. Thus, we can assume that it's an original creation of the utrom shredder, having likely nothing to do with the "original" shredder.

One wonders if that should be explained, though the Tribunal does like to call Ch'rell a fraud and an imposter, maybe the Sword of Tengu is part of that, like Tragg said.

True, but if only the Ninja Tribunal didn't have their heads shoved up their.. er, shells, and took Master Yoshi seriously about the Shredder (utrom) we might still have Master Yoshi with us...

guuuuh, I hate explaining this to people, so listen damnit: If Yoshi lived, Splinter never would have found the turtles, they would have died in the sewers, the show could not work like that. Yoshi's death is a very important part of ninja turtles, plus it's just a cartoon, don't get pissed about that kind of stuff (unless you're pissed at the writers, but in this case it was good writing).

I liked the mirage comics canon so I'm for the murder of yoshi (that sounds bad). It's important to the development of the story. although I will admit that the OT origins did make a bit more sense in terms of how splinter learned ninjitsu
