Mirage thing
The new show is based on the edgier comics
or
You see that wasn't in the old comics
or my favorite
It won't ever happen it wasn't in the old comics
seriously guys this isn't the comics it's the turtles, if you want the comics, go read the comics instead...
This was not aimed at anyone in particular. Just wanted to know how everyone feels about that, me, I understand, but I got sick of it... the 200000th time.

Adding onto this, I also don't like the whole, it can't be good it wasn't in the old comics. I think there is possibility to have it be more "gritty" or "edgier" but not be totally 100% from the comics. They weren't flawless comics, I think there are many possibilities a bit better than the old mirage comics. Although not everything shoudl be changed. I think they should mix up the old show/comics/toys and wrap it up into one big awesome tmnt goodness

I think that people are just ver y passionate about which aspect of the turtles they care about...and that's okay.

I think some are more so than others...

However...nothing is flawless and any good writer/creator will tell you that all things can be improved upon. There is nothing wrong with the cartoon not being exactly like the old comics...because it isn't meant to be...its meant to expand on something; bring a good thing to a new generation...

Its okay to love this part or that part...just remember though...that not everyone has to agree with everyone else...if we did...this fourm would not be that much fun to post on!

One thing we can all agree on...the turtles rock...and they're here to stay.

I think the writers have done a good job on the new show although I would like some more stuff from the old cartoon. Everyone makes fun of the old cartoon because it's not serious like the comics were. I always got annoyed when the tmnt didn't use their weapons but I still loved the show in general. I was never a big fan of the comics because it's completely serious. It needs a blend of comedy and action, which is why the 1st tmnt movie was so great. The one thing that confused me in the new cartoon is where did Mikey get all those DVDs from? Besides... wouldn't he have some VHS too?

The only thing I haven't liked so far about the new cartoon is the wierd techno type music. Seems like all the cartoons have that style now. It's kind of annoying. But sadly I can't complain. Everything else rocks and I finally have my TMNT back on tV!

I'm a pretty big fan of Mirage, but I'm getting tired of hearing that, too. It's like, "Ok, we get it. Jeez."

Anytime somebody says the new show is good, somebody says "yes. it is darker like the comics." Anytime someone mentions Baxter is black "yes. he is black like in the comics." Anytime somebody makes any comparison to the original cartoon, somebody says "The first five episodes of the old cartoon were good, but then it went downhill because it was not as dark as the original comics, like the new cartoon" and then make fun of the cartoon for doing the same thing over and over... sort of like these "new cartoon is original comic" posts.

I, personally, love the original comic, and I'm glad the new cartoon is making sure to be faithful, but I am tired of it being mentioned so gosh darn much, too. I found myself in that mode a while back before the show came on, and as of late anytime one of my friends mentions something they like about the new cartoon, and I know it's like the comics, I just don't say anything or agree with them that it's cool. I'm sure they're tired of hearing it, too.

Man, I wish the intro theme had a techno themed song...still cant get over how cringing that new theme is. Sure the old cartoon was goofy, but if it had one thing, it was a kick ass anthem!

What do you expect? A newbie asks if Baxter's color were changed because of PC. You are saying we couldn't say that he was originally black? Of course people will always talk about the new show and the comics and compare them. That's because the show is based on the comics. So you think people couldn't discuss about that either?

That is the same thing as saying:"Im sick of hearing people talking about LOTR books". People can compare Original LOTR to movies, and they can Compare the original TMNT to the new cartoon.

As for the old cartoon, you shouldn't think it as an action show. Well not after the first season. It switched to comedy, but was still fun. It had many good jokes, especially Krang and Shredder were written very nicely. Well that was seasons 2-3. I think that the Demise happened after that.

I think that the Mirage comics get brought up a lot because there are some that beleive that the first and only TMNT universe was the old cartoon. This is not the case. So if there is a n00b asking, "where's Krang? He was in the old cartoon, etc", that person is getting a small lesson in TMNT history.
The other reason is that the new episodes are closely related to the Mirage universe, and the old cartoon was more in line with the Archie universe, therefore, the comic comparison is brought up.

Oh, and I think the last reason is that most of the Mirage fans are rejoicing at the fact that the new TMNT follows the Mirage comics, so due to the exceitement the comparisons are made.

About this topic:

I have never read any of the old Mirage issues in my life; the only Mirage comic I own is issue #6 of Vol. 4. Despite that and the fact that I grew up with original cartoon like most of the general populace, I still think this new series totally kicks! As PWDESAI said, it's TMNT, and that's all that should matter.

What I DON'T like are those that don't like this new series just because it's nothing like the old cartoon, those that say things like, "I like the original TMNT better!" They have a hard time understanding what I mean when I try to explain to them that the cartoon was in fact NOT the "original" TMNT. Sadly, a lot of these people that I try talking to are the kind that think they're always right and don't believe me that the TMNT started out as the comic and not the 1987 cartoon.

OK, so it might seem that I contradicted myself in the above paragraph, so I'll clarify: I don't think this new series is better because it's based on the original comic; I think it's better just because it is. This is not to say I didn't like the original cartoon (I always will love the original cartoon), but sadly those days are in the past and the way must be made for the new. Suffice to say this new cartoon fits the bill nicely.

Hrm.. well, i don;t mind the Mirage series. My favorite one over the rest, actually. It is great to see them animate many of the comic books in a new way too.

But... I do think they are hyping the Mirage concept. Yes, they are using that storyline and orgina over the cartoon's. But if you hadn't noticed (for those who are fans of the movie too) they use a LOT of that. I can make a rather lengthy post here making those comparisons for the two eps already.

And... they are still using bits and pices from the cartoon. It's not everything like, B & R, pizza 24/7 and Krang. But threre's still some there. The vehicles they have, the fact they have seperate bedrooms, it's based out to fhte lair, not from April's apartment, how the thugs still act like B & R.

I think this show uses a little bit of EVERYTHING plus something new. Yah?

And to all the people who say, all these people will never show up, yes in this season you are right. But what about next season, (Ok there nothing to say it'll ever make it past season one (nothing to say fox won't cancle the FoxBox and put news on Saturday either), but the future isn't written yet. Yes the first season no guys from the past series, but after a while they will run out of story line, and will need to go with original ideas and dig further into the past.
Yes I freely admit the odds of ever seeing them are smil to none, but most people believed that we'd never see a 4th season of Reboot either, and it still happened. All I can say is open your mind to the possiblities to what may happen if a second or third season happens, fans have power, they've shown it in the past and forced changes, we can do so agian. (odds of B/R/K being in the show are 10,000 to 1, but its still there)

Actually, It's even less. It is a copy right issue, and I can't see a situation where they would pay to get those characters in the show.

To Rez, you can't blame people if they like the old toon better, It's their opinion. One that I can never understand, but thats how it is. I guess they remember the old cartoon better than it really was. In last 6 months I watched the whole show, And it is clear that it's ment for kids. And again I will bring the point that the two shows shouldn't be compared, Old is comedy show for children, and New one is action/adventure for wide range of audience. Animation tehnology is diffrent, and world is difrent. I don't think a comparison of the two shows is fair.

The new show is based more on the old comics, and some of the stories/ideas are taken directly from the pages. But that's not the only place they're taking influence from. It's just the main one.

People are saying "This was in the comics" "It wasnt like that in the comics" because that's their frame of reference. It happens all the time when stories get adapted, no just with TMNT.

Saying it's "darker" or different from the old cartoon is correct, saying that the new cartoon is better is a matter of opinion.

You missed what I'm saying too, I don't mind comparing the new show to the comics, or to anything else for that matter, I actually encourage it, what I do mind is the fact that we hear it a zillion times over and over and over...
