I thought the overall "concept" for turtles III was decent. The comics included lots of obscure ideas so time traveling isn't completely out of character. The thing I didn't like was that they tried so hard to make it funny and forgot to make a decent film. Granted we see small glimpses of the turtles growing (raph mentors yoshi and Mike finds innner peace in Japan) but on the whole, too many stupid one-line quips and goofy ****.

The cosutmes really didn't help the cause either. Splinter inluded, OIY

The story itself was okay, I'd have done time travel some other way. I hated that staff thingy.

Music was fine.

Casey's appearance was good.

The overall look on the turtles SUCKED, characterisation SUCKED. Raph sounded silly too. Didn't like his voice, what was he smoking since TMNT1?!

The corny acting from the humans was lame.

Casey showing the Japanese dudes the modern day was the only entertaining bits.

Splinter looked retarded. He looked more dog than rat.

I consider this movie wasted potential.
The should have mixed together some of the time travel tales from the Mirage comics and had Renet and Savanti in it for starters & Chote would have just been icing on the cake.
Having Henson back making the costumes would have made it a bit better also, but it's a shame they didn't get them for whatever reason, such as low budget.
So I'd say Good Idea just Executed Poorly.

That is my largest issue with the movie as well. The costumes were HORRID. ESPECIALLY the facial articulation. I've seen more realistic movements from animatronics at Disneyland.

Yeah I felt the same way...I think if Henson had done the puppets and if the whole movie just wasn't so over the top it wouldn't have been so bad. Time travel is very appropriate for the turtles but like everyone else is saying it just wasn't handled right....oh and the wet willy thing...yeah I couldn't stand that.

I liked the plot, time travel has always been one of my favorite plot devices. The acting was ok, a little cheesy, but it was a TMNT movie, there were never Oscar caliber acting in them.

The costumes, again, were the major draw back. The loss of Henson's animatronics also, sadly meant the loss of the great Kevin Clash as Splinter, another strike against it. It was nice to see the TMNT using their weapons again in a fight, but it was also very cheesy.

I think the combination of the cheese factor and the god-awful costumes ( for the Turtle and Splinter, the costumes for the human characters were ok.) makes this the most panned of the 3 movies. I need to ask my pally Bizarro what he thought of TMNT 3 since the whole different costuming aspect is moot to him.

When I was doing my fan commentary for that film...I was just all over the map. I really couldn't decide if I hated or liked the movie.

So I guess my answer is...it's a movie that can make you into a schizophrenic.

I think Raph was just frustrated that they had little to do but still had to train hard. Their enemy was dead and they had no purpose in life

Meh, I bust it out once every summer. It's embarassing, having something like that be a part of my "thing", but it's no biggie, most of the time the 3rd movie in a series sucks anyways (I'd rather watch TMNT III than Batman Forever, Batman & Robin, or Beyond Thunderdome).

TMNT III has some really good moments though:

- Mike having a "crush" type of thing on Mitsu, so much so he wanted to stay in Japan instead of return to the present.

- Raph's bonding with Yoshi, teaching him to control his temper and flying kites with him.

- The Scepter being lost, rebuilt, missing etc, it actually kept me on my toes that Yoshi's grandfather was the one who hid the real Scepter..

- Casey's interactions with the four samurai bodyguard. You have to admit all the scenes in the present with Casey and those guys was hilarious. Who didn't laugh when one of them wanted to take the TV with him back to Japan?

One of the big things I like about the movie is the climax, two of the Turtles wanted to stay in Japan (Raph and Mike), whereas Leo and Don wanted to return to the present. One thing people don't appreciate is the Turtles wanting to go their separate ways, and Raph says something like, "Here in Japan people actually appreciate us unlike in the present where we have to hide in the sewer."

Instead of being the boring predictable "let's get back to our time," they actually had the Turtles react differently to the situation.

My positive response to the movie was Donatello's humor. In just about every scene, he makes a joke. Being that he is my favorite turtle, I thought this was Donatello's best. His jokes weren't funny in the 2nd one, but were very funny in the first one.

Anyways, I'm average on the third ninja turtle movie but it's positive because of this line by donatello:

Donatello(when he sees the guy come out of the bell after the cannon has fired): Oh look, Don King!

Donatello: I don't know, but it doesn't look good...

I actually kind of liked the third movie, there where some gems in it I think get really over looked by the whole "OMG the cutoms suck!!!" reactions. My biggest gripes? Casey being reduced to the subplot, to much silliness, not dramatic enough, and Paige's portrayal as April...seriously what happened to her acting skills in the third movie?

My favorite line in the movie.

"Sorry about the crack about the bad vibes. You got great vibes!"

'Actually, I got the vibes & I love to play them!"

I still love this movie, even as an adult, but won't deny the fact that it's horrible.
