Tokka Forums Suggestion Take 3

Ok, I was thinking that since there have been so many people asking how old everyone is and there will be more I guarantee, we should have a calendar on the site so you'd know when everyone's b-day is and how old and that stuff. I've seen them on other forums, and they shouldn't be too hard to make. It would be an option up near FAQ, Rules, etc...

What do you think, Krang?

That sounds like a fun Idea. But putting it together might be some work.

Yea, I am not an expert so I wouldn't know how to do it, but how I have seen it on other forums it shows the user name on the day of the month with a number in parentheses. that number is the age you will be on that day, so you can look through all the months and stuff...it would be neat.

That sounds like a great idea! I'm pretty sure Krang could do it, I mean as far as I can tell he's done an excellent job on this site (*Ahem* I myself would never be able to accomplish such a thing.....not enough patience ) but yeah Tokka thats an excellent suggestion in my opinion!

Sure, I'll take a look at the official phpBB forums and see if there's a good calendar addon and if so, I'll install it.

So Krang, did you find a calendar yet? If you need any help, I think I can get one...

I looked at the phpBB calendar mods, and there aren't any that don't involve heavy modification of several of the files, so instead I'm looking for a PHP calendar script that I can modify to use the user database from the forums so that everyone who is registered can add to the calendar.

I've tried looking for a good script, but there aren't any that use a database schema similar to the user table for phpBB2. I'll keep looking, though, and I'll add one if I find one.

A calendar could be interesting. But, what about those who like to hide their age?

You don't have to put your age on there, it's only optional (I won't be adding my age to the calendar). You'll also be able to add other events to it besides birthdays.
