I don't think anyone here would ever want to cancel the TMNT. And if it were in my hands to make another movie, I'd make 3 remakes. 1 for the origins and Shredder Strikes Back (yes I used the 2K3 title just cause I didn't feel like typing Leonardo and #10, but I said it anyway. So oh well). 2nd movie would be a continuation of the first with RtNY. 3rd CaW. All would be dark in the same vein as Batman Begins and TDK. That would be my dream series.

Didn't the first live action movie cover that pretty well.

I think that was one of the reasons a lot of fans were glad that the 2007 movie wasn't a reboot as the first film and the new toon adapted those stories well enough. I guess there's only so many ways you can see the antique shop burn down and the turtles character building on the farm.

That being said I personaly wouldn't have minded a reboot that was even closer to Mirage. I don't think you'd even need to spread out the events up to RTNY into two movies. Batman Begins was quite long and covered a lot of ground without seeming like we were being overloaded.
