gobo's lofty goal: a 2K3+ marathon this week

So, I only got the idea this morning, but, since I own every single 2K3 and beyond DVD that has ever been officially produced in America, I can use 'em to refresh my memory on all the events that lead to the ep we'll see Saturday morning. By my calculations, I can blow through a season a day (because, sadly, I have that kind of time) and pull in an additional 12 eps Thursday so I can get 'em all in the short-term memory by Saturday. I'm halfway done with Season 1, but decided to take a break to check in here.

Main idea of this post: Don't expect me to be too chatty until Saturday. ^_^

That is always a fun idea, I have all the DvDs too. I hope you get through them all!
I did that 3 weekends ago with FF, I watched them the whole way through. First time ever actually because I usually just marathon 2K3. It was good though because I really did catch some things I missed only watching them on TV.

I am currently re-watching the entire Ninja Tribunal season. I would actually like to re-watch the entire series as it has been quiet some time sense I did so. I just know unlike you I would never have the dedication to accomplish it in one week.

Boo to life taking time away from Turtle related activity's!

I have seasons 1, 2, and 5 full sets, most of 3, around half of 4 and only 6 episodes of FF. But I plan on doing the same when I manage to get the last few DVDs I need. At least I can watch from 1 to halfway through season 3, by then I might have gotten my hands on those other episodes...
they're still eluding me

noteworthy details

SEASON 1
There's a glich in "Fallen Angel" on the half-season set DVD. When Mikey in his baggies comments on it looking like "an ugly convention" in the warehouse, you see a slight shift in the frame as the joke plays out, as if it was two scenes, but the audio makes it sound like it didn't skip a beat. I'll have to remember to check to see if the first gen DVD had that same glich.

I thought there was an ep where April revealed herself to be 23. Where'd it go?

"Lone Raph and Cub" has the best selection of underscoring, IMO.

SEASON 2
The Utroms crashed on Earth in the 11th Century, but only "almost ten centuries" ago according to Shredder in "Secret Origins" Part Three

The purple 'scar' on Ch'Rell's left eye may look similar, but is NOT the seal of The Foot. His scar has peaks on both ends.

When we first see The Ultimate Ninja, his 'fair' challenge endangers lives. In "The Big Brawl", everything possible is done to prevent endangering lives.

Leatherhead was discovered in the sewers, but didn't mutate until an accident at TCRI.

Hun recognized and despised Karai from the first time we see them meet.

From the ep, "Junklantis", it's pretty undeniable that Garbageman has no legs at all or rediculously undersized ones.

More as I get to it...

Which would make sense considering the never-completed (due to its controversial nature) Season 5 Episode "Nightmares Recycled," in which it was to be revealed that Hun and the Garbage Man were conjoined twins at birth. My grisly guess is that GM was snipped off and thrown into the trash...

I think some info about the episode did mention such a thing (of Garbage Man being "tossed away").

In My Opinion, that wasn't a stupid question. This is a stupid question:
Is it wetter under water if you're there when it rains?

That's like "If a tree falls in the woods and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?", but so much more absurd.

Last three eps of Season 3... Should be just another hour. I must have swapped discs around fifteen to retain continuity. What a headache...

SEASON 3
"The Christmas Aliens" was the first ep of the season when dotcom first announced the season, but they have it as ep 13 now. So, that's how I ordered the eps. But, there will likely be doubt as to where it fits in continuity until they reissue Season 3 on DVD. I didn't notice any other eps that looked like they happened in Winter, but I think Leatherhead would have been invited if the guys knew he was still alive.

"Touch and Go" really deserve a back-story, don't they?

"H.A.T.E." was the only ep that was set at the farmhouse this season.

"Nobody's Fool" comes mighty close to not fitting the mold of character-narrated intros. But, since it's at least still an internal monologue for the most part...

"The Entity Below" shows that 'The Green Man' (from Season 1's ep, "Monster Hunter") was a Y'lintean beast of burden.

"Hun on the Run" is the first and only time I've seen Utrom Shredder show what could conceivably be misconstrued as fatherly concern for Karai. But, I saw it more as protecting an investment. In as much as Karai is efficient at doing his dirty work and is almost blindly obedient, he decided she was more worth holding onto than his other two lackeys.

"Same As It Never Was" happens thirty years in Don's future. I have to wonder how April would feel if that time's Donnie reappeared one day. Would he still be considered a deserter?

In "The Real World" Part One, I can't help but think that Lord Noriyuki is supposed to be Panda Khan.

"Bishop's Gambit" tells us the E.P.A. was created by President Grant after the first reported UFO crash in 1870.

"Exodus" Part One is the first time I remember hearing an Utrom speak with a humanly pitch outside of their exosuit.

"Exodus" Part Two was the first season finale without some indication of where the next season was going. And, it wasn't until the middle of the following season that they decided on a direction.

Tomorrow (or today, actually) is gonna be a loooooooooooooooooong day.

all 116 eps of 2K3 within 96 hours

Should I be proud? I'm not quite sure.

So, here's some more comments from me as well as some I forgot to add yesterday:
SEASON 3
""Across the Universe" showed both D'Hoonibian Cantina chef and Sleeg from the Triceraton prison at the finish line at the end of the ep. They have a long life-span, don't they?

SEASON 4
In "The People’s Choice", don't Jhanna & Moriah look like they could be the same type of alien Starlee is? I never thought about that before.

"Dragon's Brew" demands a follow-up. V9581 deserves a happy ending.

In "Grudge Match", I wish those darn Levram hadn't removed the safety rules. I would have appreciated seeing Mikey suffer the agony of defeat.

"Bad Day" (I think it was) suggested that Karai already knew of the Tengu Shredder.

"Dragons Rising" shows a return of Nobody's nemesis, Ruffington.

"All Hallows Thieves" has a decidedly Australian, not Arabic, 'King of Thieves'. What's up with that?

"The Ancient One" seems to be the only ep where he is voiced by the first guy.

"Outbreak" claims Bishop was abducted by aliens right off the battlefield for The Battle of New Orleans in 1815. I wonder how he stayed young enough to head the E.P.F. in 1870.

"Tale of Master Yoshi" suggests that Mr. Mortu and the other Utroms were still in Japan in 1960. Since they founded TCRI, and it was revealed to be a 25 year old business in 2004, I'm guessing it wasn't until the mid/late '70s that they went to New York.

"Good Genes" Part One marks the first time we hear Leatherhead's new voice actor. I wonder if he's who we should expect to hear in the new season. Also, the Foot Mystics referred to The Heart of Tengu as alien technology in this ep. Perhaps that's why Karai was so confident that she could handle Tengu Shredder. If the lackeys could be subdued by technology, surely their master is no different.

Weren't there a few of these in the Ninja Tribunal Season - like they would just show Splinter's nightmares as an intro, no narration at all?

And we get appearances of the other 'beasts of burden' in future eps - the Fish-People in "Sons of the Silent Age," and Raptarr from "Wing and a Prayer." It's little details like this that make me love the NT ever so much more than the OT. Little easter eggs of continuity that make it all worth watching again and again.

Quote:

Yeah, I rank Season 4 as one of my least favorites - just for this lack of direction. The first 3 seasons are such a power-house of storyline, all building up to Exodus. That is pretty hard to top.

Did you also notice the frequent cameo appearances by the civilian couple (I think it was a black man with dreads, and a white woman with pink hair) who were in the very first ep leaving a bar... threatened by the Triceraton alien invasion... threatened by the Tengu Shredder takeover... etc. etc.

Quote:

Word, I completely forgot about that sad sucker. Talk about the biggest downer of a TMNT episode...

Quote:

Hmm... perhaps it has something to do with creators not wanting to perpetuate the racist 'Arab = Terrorist' stereotype?

Quote:

I was hoping that would be the only ep The Ancient One was in... period.

more power to you dude, your observations are interesting. Although I have to disagree on Touch and Go, I kind of like them being mysterious, but who knows, maybe they could come up with a story for this season with them. I did like them.

Hey, gobo, now that you're watching the whole series at once, have you noticed the use of music declining over time?

It seems like the music was much better (or at least better placed) in Seasons 1 and 2, but is it obvious watching it now?
