Bootleg Prices
First off, this doesn't go in the bootleg Thread because it is a discussion topic rather than a display post or an ebay auction. Anyhoos
Why do you suppose it is that (almost) 100% of the time, rare bootleg Ninja Turtles go for WAAAAAY higher a price than rare ACTUAL freakin' Ninja Turtles? Discuss! |

One thing that I've noticed is that a lot of times, sellers try to pass them off as if they are very rare authentic figures.

I dunno..
I see them as a niche market. While most collectors focus on the "authentic" figures, there is an obvious market for these bootlegs. Seeing as how the group is much smaller that fervently collects them, it sort of makes sense that a few people can really dirve up prices. I think its probably one of those markets that if a few buyers dropped out, you could see a huge decline in prices realized, whereas in the regular toyline theres more than enough people out there to keep prices healthy. Kind of like the original art market. |
