According to midtown comics this issue will be out on Wednesday October 15th.

I picked up the first issue recently. Looks to be off to a good start. Kind of makes me want to go back and read the beginning of volume 4 again. I read it for the first time once it became available on Wowio, but I've already forgotten how this story would fit in.

Speaking of volume 4, I wonder if there are any plans to put it into trades.

I believe there are, but it's dependent on a number of things. You should ask Peter over on his blog. I was told that City At War would be a likely candidate for the next collected book (after the initial wave of 25th Anniversary books). So hopefully things go well and sales warrant the collections!

I got issue 2 yesterday was better than the first one I think but I'm not sure, is that a bad thing? lol
The cover does nothing for me, at least the Raphael mini series had that going for it.
The art in this is slightly better but indeed as usual with Jim leaves me wanting something a little more these days.
The Turtles look fine but as usual the humans look like something out of the old Rugrats cartoon.
I found that the best art in this issue was on the very first page, on page 16, & page 19.
I found the worst art to be on the very last page of the comic with the male characters eyes having very odd placement and the woman having man hands.

Anyway on with the story it's self.

Over all I think this series is ok but it's really not about Mikey, it's just sort of random and should have been just called TMNT: "The Third Kind".

It was decent. #2 still fails, however, to make any kind of case as to how this mini-series is in any way about Michelangelo, its titular character.

I do like keeping Talbot on the inking. He's not a miracle worker, but his clear willingness to put a bit of his own style on top of Lawson shows and it's quite positive. It's very lamentable there's no duotones in place to really give things that atmosphere we all loved in the old material.

Has anyone figured out why Eric Talbot has not drawn an issue of Tales? the series is missing out without his art. I look at his blog and he draws the Turtles in an amazing twisted way.

A.C. Farley too. Whatever happened to those guys?

Farley did an opening bit of art in a Tales issue about a year or so ago and that was the last time we've seen anything from him.
And it was odd because I thought it was Mike Dooneys art lol.
And Talbot is around so i have no idea why he doesn't draw anymore.

After each piece at his blog, ppl drool over and ask for just a single issue but nope... still waiting. I am ok with a frontispiece or a pin-up page too. (as he did in the past )... tho i would sell more than my soul for a full issue.

As for Third Kind 2. I am liking this mini-series. Really. Ppl had hated Raphael - mini but i did not hate it too. (Tho it really did not give anything important to the Mirage Universe - and it was based on a strong character like Raph who deserved much more... so it was quite disappointing in that way, but i did not hate it )... And i liked Third Kind more.
The message at last page was quite good imo. I like the way, the world and humans are shown as a bit thick-headed and suspicious against the new or unusual.

Spoiler: I like that things from volume 4 are being talked about in this like how Mikey was hit by the bus, it makes the series feel a bit bigger. I also like that they go back and have the Utrom know the turtles from the very early issues. I don't really get why those gang members wear the alien masks though. I found the fact that the one officers name was Murphy to be funny I wonder if that was intentional. I don't trust that Alien Leader character, there's something odd about them. And I did like the part with the cops pulling out the bullet from the dead alien if that was a bullet, looked like a raisin. Over all I think this series is ok but it's really not about Mikey, it's just sort of random and should have been just called TMNT: "The Third Kind".
