Official Episode Discussion: "Hacking Stockman"

Good Day, one and all..!

I present to you a new teaser for this week's upcoming episode, now with 50% more meat!

Last we saw the boys, they were helping Casey and April with the whole Ring of Yin fiasco. Now the two are engaged, and the boys return to their struggle to regain the broken pieces of their father. If only it weren't so literal...

By now, Donatello must be getting into that range of 'over-stressed, under-slept, obsessed green pile of guilt', standing at the computer for ungodly amounts of hours. And you know what that means...

RETURN OF THE CYBERNAUTS!

...or at least Donnie the Cybernaut. CyberDon, anyone...?

So while Donnie's surfing the net and pulling Splinter's chunks out of the local soap opera fansites, the remaining brothers are up on the streets. And you know, Don doesn't really NEED that HELP to get THEIR FATHER. Pff.... it's a one turtle job now, apparently...

So the other three are out, seeing how the city's changed during the year (or two?three? Depending on if you consider 2005 and 2008 aren't quite accurate for 'gone for one year'..). Now we'll get a bigger look of the scale that the Purple Dragons have obtained during a year of no interference. Being a thug is a much better paying job now than it used to be, having seen Hun and some of his henchmen – not to mention the firepower he had when going after April.

And as with the City at War arc, the battle for top spot continues on. Purple Dragons versus the Foot. But this time, there's not been anyone to stop them...

How's the Foot Clan been doing during this time? The last we saw (During the Tribunal Arc) Karai leaving hand-in-hand with Dr. Chaplin (quite contently, I might add). We can only assume that she continues to lead the Foot clan, with the aid of Chaplin's technological firepower. And let us not forget last week's episode where we learn that Karai knew of Ch'rell's digital copy on the Foot database. What other back-up systems did they set up in case of this situation?

Which finally brings up Baxter Stockman. And I've done a bit of research on his character for this week's ep.

Now, the last we saw Baxter in present time was Enter the Dragons part one and two. He had been reduced to a salvaged brain in a strange robot body to work for Bishop (who wasn't all that much better than Shredder). This was after his 'Flowers for Algernon'-esque trauma in “Insane in the Membrane”, of having the utter joy of regrowing a body and enjoying the pleasures of life (eating, touching, belching), only to have it decompose before his very eyes (eyes included). How does that mess with one's head?

Physically, Baxter's gone through a hell that you wouldn't wish on anyone, even your worst enemy. He's been taken apart piecemeal by Shredder AND Hun's hands. He's fought and wished and struggled to be allowed to die and finally rest in peace, only to have his rotted corpse pulled from the river and put into another strange device by Bishop.

“Why can I not be allowed to expire in peace!?”

“It seems the pain will never End.”

It makes you wonder what his mental/physical state is after a year of no major battles with the turtles, and if he's still under the employment of Bishop – alien technology in the near future? You bet. We know they've been working in the future from 'Head of State' in the FF season... There's a considerable chance that we'll get a Bishop sighting in this episode, folks!

The technology that once protected Baxter... will be turned around and used against him. The evil CyberShredder will manage to hack into his body, and come into the REAL World.

This puts everyone in danger, good and bad.

In the meantime, Donnie's going to be continuing his work to help regain his father's remnants. How successful is he going to be? Will he have a majority of the data fragments by now? Is the time running out on those data fragments? What's the chance of some of it being overwritten by the time Donatello gets to all of them? If there was one time Donatello was needed...

But now he is going to be put to a dire test: Do you save your father's data from the internet... or do you go and save your brothers from the wrath of a Baxter possessed by the Shredder that has nothing to lose?

So I leave you with these questions:

Will the progress of the teamwork from the Tribunal arc be forgotten after a year of no turtles?
What will Baxter's mental state be now that a year has passed?
Which will Donatello chose... his father, or his brothers?

And even though a Dromer throws a voodoo doll of me into a furnace everytime I say it...

STAY TUNED!!!

((Many thanks to Gobo for some better sources so I can do these better.. ))

Man I loved this episode!
It just had everything especially Baxter and he looks like a total bad @ss.
Love all the tech Baxter has created for the Dragons.
Playmates are serious retards not to be making toys for this series, it screams action figures.
Don is totally Emo Leoing it right now ahaha
I can't lie I'm even laughing at lame Mikey's jokes.
This thing just keeps getting better and better, poor Stockman I seriously hate Shredder even more than I ever did before.
I sort of am already getting used to the new look for April and I dig that she has that yellow outfit on.
I have to wonder though, where are Karai & Bishop!!??
I'm so happy Don saved the day, and at Baxter's comment to him.
It seems like the Turtles & Stockman are cool, which is odd but hey I can't say I mind it.
I laughed my @ss off though as Don handed Cyber shredder his Ass in a cyber platter.
I liked everything but the ending, I guess I'm used to bad things showing up at the end lol.
And wooooo what a long night of work I can finally sleep now that the show is over and thread is open.

Oh Machi, I was just saying how this thread needs to be opened. I won't spoil the episode for you. Just know that it was full of awesome! I daresay it's surpassing 2k3 standards!

Spoiler:
Stockman channeling Krang w/ the whole "I needed Hun to build me a body" bit.

Great episode.

Man I will be so sad if the show gets cancelled after this season.

You guys should fight for a Season 8, I don't want to see it end.

Agreed. Animation was top-notch. Mike was actually a bit funny. I loved the dialog.

Amazing episode... kinda sloggy dialogue in a couple places (Shreddy Bear?)... but this episode proves what I've been saying all along. They are capable of mixing the Cyber stuff and the fight against the Foot and Dragons seamlessly, without too heavy focus on the Cybernauts.

A couple things I've noticed...

April in her movie "Kill Bill" outfit.

They still underscore the theme to FF (I sort of noticed it during " The Engagement Ring" )

Obvious joke about Sarah Palin and April shooting Purple Dragons out of a helicopter.

Remember when people where moaning about Serling being around? He wasn't in this episode at all.... I can't even remember seeing him last episode either.

Plus, Shredder remotely kicking Hun's hide was what I was waiting for since last episode (when Hun was actually terrified of Shred Head).

I wonder if the end of the episode clears up Donny's angst. I'd hate to see that for the rest of the season (Ala Season 4 Leo).

In closing, the real star of this episode was Baxter. Though I was expecting him to turn on the turtles as soon as he got back in his body.

I thought the same thing, too. Thank goodness he didn't. But I imagine their relationship with each other is tenuous at best. We'll see...

Great episode, best of the season. Mike wasn't awful (Shreddy Bear ), Don came around, and Baxtershredder was the sh*t!

First off, great episode. It goes to show that 4Kids found an excellent balance with this new season, and to can it now would be stepping on their own feet.

Now I did have some problems with this episode, and before it aired, I knew I was going to have at least one problem (the first of this season.)

My problem stems from the fact I see a plothole.

Baxter has always hated Hun, why would he just work with him for a new body?

The real problem I knew I was going to have, was in regards to Bishop. You cannot just show a guy in the future, and say, "this is what is going to happen to him, so no more Bishop in the past." WRONG!!! Bishop is still around in the world, yet nowhere to be seen.

This is why we need another season. Eight episodes left, no Bishop yet. HE IS STILL IN THE WORLD, ALIVE AND A THREAT!!!

Another plothole that I knew would come up is the fact that 50 years before 2105, Bishop and Stockman were still together, yet in this episode Stockman asks Hun to build him a body? WHY NOT BISHOP!?

We need an episode that shows why Bishop and Stockman are not hanging around each other.

I just don't get why Bishop and Stockman had such a strong alliance, only for Stockman to be asking Hun for a body and not Bishop.

Otherwise great episode. Just needs to be without the plotholes.

good episode, I just realized how much I missed Baxter Stockman until now and it was nice seeing all the Hun again, alothough to me it seemed like his face seemed a bit too angular. It was sort of a bug out seeing Baxter and Hun working together, since before it seemed like they could barely tolerate each other. And Baxter's new look is kick ass! he looks so cool in that new exo suit. I really liked how this episode seemed to put Donatello's one sidedness to rest and he seemed to gain some peace of mind, hopefully this is the episode that allows him to put things in perspective and he can stop punishing him self. I think seeing his brothers about to be killed the way that he did finnally made him realize that him beating him self up all the time was not only have an unhealthy effect on him self put but on his brothers as well and was hurting them in the process. I was really happy that at the end of the episode that Donny wasn't all freaked out about not getting Splinter's bits and was actually really posetive and optimistic, his little speech at the end about neglecting his brother was sweet and made me think that Don is going to stop his reckless behavior, the little group hug at the end was icing on the cake.

Speaking of Donatello he was just kick ass when going up against Cyber Shredder. He took him on all by him self and whooped his cyber bytes ass! "I've already lost my father, your aren't going to take my brothers away to" awsome. I think Dontello is the only turtle that has ever taken on the Shredder by him self and beaten him, and he sure had the motivation to do it this time. Poor guy if his brothers had been killed imagine the guilt he would have felt and the agony he would have been in.

I thought the interaction between Baxter and Shredder was pretty cool. This is the first real interaction Baxter and Shredder have had since Baxter f*cked him over in season three and caused him to be captured. Assuming that Cyber Shredder even knows about that little instance, he seemed unaware of "che'rell" being banished, so maybe hedoesn't know the role baxter played in all that. However Shredder does seem to have a general hatered of baxter probably due from his past betrayals. But it was nice they managed to put a bit of humour into it by having Baxter offering the Shdredder to build him a new body with all the sharp edges he likes so much

This episode was filled with good exchanges with Baxter and Shredder and the turtles. The turtles teaming up with Baxter entertained me more than it should have, especilly during the "cover my back" fighting sequesence. I loved the exchange between Shredder and Baxter when he made the comment that if he knew Baxter could make something so useful he would have treated him better.

Baxter: (hopeful voice) really!?

Shredder: (deadpan) no.

Baxter:

I was also pretty tickled by Mikey in this episode too when he was going through his keys when the PD turned the corner. that actually made me giggle, "hey do you guys have they keys to this top secret place? I can't find mine"

I few things that I noticed that I liked, April making a brief appearance in her new fighting uniform, it looks like to be a variation of the one she wore in the new CGI movie. Only not as ugly and impractle. Also Leo, Raph and Mikey wearing those black outfits. Those where actually pretty cool, I didn't much care for Leonardo's outfit but I like Raph and Mikey's; very stylish. They even had matching black arm and elbow pads.

One last thing, where is Serling?

Pretty cool. I though Stockman would be more recognizable with his trademark smugness on his face. Didn't quite work out that way... But, his voice was enough to make him 'feel' like the same character.

I wonder why Scottie Ray's C. Shredder seems so unlike the Utrom, if he's just the engrams of the latter fused with Viral. When has Ch'Rell ever stopped to make jokes before? Or like, back in "Something Wicked", when he started telling the Turtles his cyber-life story. That's right, just tell the Turtles everything you know so they can find a way to pull your plug, Dr. Evil. The fact that the Cyber Shredder insists on having blades on both hands has been bugging me until I realized why this morning.

Also, the credits suggest that it actually is Greg Carey back as Hun. And, of the characters specifically named in the credits, Bishop isn't one of them. Mansley isn't even listed in the additional voices 'pile'. It seems we may never get to hear Mansley's take on Hun. Darn.

did any one have moment of O.o when the turtles jumped the female members of the purple dragon and you could actually hear the punchs landing off screen and the females grunting in pain? It's not very often you see female viallns in the show, most of the people the turtles beat up are guys, and even though being ninjas they probably have no resevations taking out a female adversary (like Karai and Viral) it's still a bit suprising they actually beat up female villans rather than just subdueing them and tyeing them up. To bad we didn't actually see them "punch and kick" them. I like little hints that the turtles are not above taking out any one regardless of gender.

Let's hope so. Donnie's supposed to be the level-headed one. Though, I still expect him to get a tad obsessed now and then.

These new episodes keep getting better and better! I really loved this episode. My first thought on seeing those hammers of the purple dragons was that they looked simular to those of the Quarrymen in Gargoyles. I also like the stealth suits the guys where wearing, now they look like the mini mutant figures.

It's tradition: in most james bond movies this happens too.

The episode maybe on-line on 4Kids soon, but people outside of the US can't watch it then either.
