Figure/Weapon variations

This came about because I recently received a carded Next Mutation Shredder with green weapons; the one I have on my wall has black, and was wondering which of the two, if either, was harder to come by.

I know there are many different variations of some figures, whether it be a different paint job (Super Shredder, Ray Fillet), Different coloured weapons (Next Mutation Shredder), or more weapons (most Fast Forward figures).

I'm pretty sure Leo's Gal's site is a rather comprehensive list, but I don't think it indicates which is the more uncommon of any redux of figures. How do we tell if the figure we're looking at is the more common one found all over the place, or the one that you've got to dig to get your hands on?

Again, I'm only referring to the figures themselves and their weapons; outer packaging does not apply.

The Aqua blue weapons is the first release and the black weapons is the second release, I'd honestly say the black weapon version is harder to find as these second release figures with the differnt color weapons where released along side Vam Mi, Bonesteal, & Silver.

Thanks Vaughn! Any insight on other variations? I know you once said the first release of Ray Fillet was the more uncommon of the ones released...

Your welcome S,
Well the color change ones I guess could be considered rarer simply because it cost playmates allot to produce and that's why they stopped doing it. The Yellow and Blue Ray Fillet was re-released up till about 1992 on the 4 turtle blue background re-release blister cards.
This isn't my image btw it's from Ebay.
