Custom Usagi Yojimbo

A customized version of the original 1989 Usagi Yojimbo action figure from playmates. Customized by myself.

Good job overall, but he does seem to be a bit bulky, particularly the upper body/arms.

That Usagi on eBay is mighty awesome. I prefer the understated look, without all the extra samurai armor, seen in the 2K3 cartoon/figure, but I can't deny that eBay Usagi looks great with all the ornamentation, reminds me a bit of the Spawn: Samurai Wars figures.

That's actually kinda what I was going for when designing his unifrom. On the '87 cartoon, which is what this custom is based on, he does wear a pretty baggy/saggy pants and long sleeve shirt, (or gee?). Now the arms actually are a bit bulkier then I was planning, but to me it still looks ok, perhaps i should go back and make tha pants a bit bulkier to be more in line with the upper body.

Thanx to all who enjoyed it. This was actually my first custom project using apoxie/epoxy sculpt, because i just recently discovered it and wish i would have known about it sooner. Here is an alternate facial expression i was briefly considering for the Usagi, a "closed-mouth" angry look, but somehow ended up with the buck-teeth look cause i feel it shows more of his character.

and as for those marvel legends usagii's, can't say that I'm a fan of them as they're way too huge to fit in with any tmnt line, plus they are a totally in-accurate depiction of Usagi. the fact that people are actually paying $100+ on ebay for custom figures, instead of attempting to create their own, is pretty sad.

I all of these custom Usagis... makes me want to try my hand on one when I get back into customizing.

Maybe I'd actually do a Terry Miyamoto, but I've never actually seen a picture of her >.<
