Talking What is the focus of your collection for 2009?

Before the pitchforks are raised at Playmates for the umpteenth time, can I politley request to keep this thread as positive as possible?

This thread does not necessarily mean TMNT figures yet to come but also toys of old as well.

For me, it's Mini Mutants anything and those Mirage figures. I also hope to track down Mystic Fury Donatello and a few 2K3 figures I regretably passed up when they were out such as Usagi, Gen and Nobody.

Honestly, the only TMNT things on my list this year are the 3 new Shredders that are supposed to come out. well, 4 if you count the Neca version. if they ever release it. last year I finished up most of my TMNT wantlist so theres not much left that I want except carded variants and parts for customs.

If the NECA releases continue based on some miracle, I'll head that direction without question. Otherwise, I might pick up some of the 25th Anniversary re-rereleases. Maybe a Michelangelo and keep it MOC next to the original Michelangelo release that I have MOC.

The original Mikey figure was the first TMNT toy I ever got, so that's why I'm thinking of going that route. Maybe I'll buy a Raphael for my girlfriend.

I'm going to try and continue my guide to the figures this year and obtain more of the collector card if I don't get outbid on Ebay for the billionth time.

I'll buy whatever Playmates has to offer as long as it's new and good and doesn't reuse old figures that I already own.

If Neca releases any turtles stuff this year I will buy it no questions asked as they make top quality figures.

I'd like to see total completion of the vintage line. That includes EVERYTHING (besides plushies...they just aren't my thing) from the Playmates 88-98 toy run. Currently I've finished the action figures and vehicles. Almost done with with the giants, and the mini's... then it's just the roleplay stuff and a couple random items and I'm done. I think it's totally doable within the year.

-Finally nab Purple Armoured Super Shredder
-Get any Shredders released this year
-If NECA actually releases something, all of those
-Maybe one or two additional Playmates figures from this year

'Course, right now I don't have money to burn, so I'm not really buying anything.

If NECA wave 2 ever comes out, I'll get that.

But, I'm a lot more critical about Playmates now. Those comic turtles look like Mexican bootlegs compared to NECA. Granted, quality has not been Playmates' specialty as of late, but the reused movie sculpts and cheesy weapons leave me..unimpressed. The Cyber Turtles look like lazy Alien Hunter rejects. The music turtles are ok, but I think they would be better as Mini-Mutants. Plus the fact that Buzzrok and Multiflex were not released in the States and the Sub Sewer enemies and Global Missions line were not released at all has reduced how much of what I care Playmates is doing currently.
The vintage reissues are a good idea but they don't offer anything to me.
(*actually, no, i must also own a no-pants shredder)

Soo..I will most likely be reducing my collection in '09, maybe finishing the Ninja Fugitoid and Warcat customs I'm working on.

BTW, I'm selling a lot of my stuff here in case anyone is interested: http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showthread.php?t=25988
I put up more figures for sale all the time, and will probably reach deeper into my assortment of rarer figures as time goes pn.

I might buy one of those Mirage turtles, but I know how that will go: I'll end up buying them all. I had that before with the Neca figures.
If that Lizard like creature would ever see the light of day, I'll definitely buy it.

Depending on price I might get the reissues, but that isn't looking good (I've only heard $10 each so far, which then I can buy loose vintage ones for cheaper). I'd love to build my Foot army this year, and I just might still.

Oh, and price be damned if Shredder is pantless! I must own one!

I'd like to try and get the NECA figures seeing as my hope for freshtone/bandana variants don't look to be happening.

Otherwise, I've all but stopped TMNT collecting. Nothing new interests me and when they do make something, it doesn't see release (ala Metal Klaws). As for vintage stuff, I'm waiting on one of my holy grails right now, so [song]I feel pretty! oh, so pretty! oh, so pretty and witty and...[/song]

...I shouldn't post right after waking up...

I dunno.. I'm lucky to get whatever I can get actually...

I wouldn't mind getting the classic TMNT, Casey, APRIL, and Slash. The new wave of NECA figures if they ever come out... and maybe one of the Playmates version.

Hmmm. For me, I think I'll continue trying to nab early TMNT artwork from the comics...I love that stuff, so hopefully I can get some more. I'd also like to keep filling the holes left in my comic collection. Toys won't be a priority for me this year as most everything can be attained at a later date.
