Who all has gone to a "Galabunga"? I have questions...

Just curious because the tour is coming to Dallas, and I'm contemplating taking days off of work to go to it. What kind of events go on? Any special appearances from artists/writers? Do the sell merchandise of any kind?

Well I went to the kickoff galabunga in NYC & I had a blast. As far as I can think, the only difference between yours and mine will be that in New york they screened the original movie on a drive through screen. They'll have a replica of the turtle van there which is awsome, they took a school bus and painted it after the cartoon look. Its even got the laser and sattelite atop the vehicle and the shell logos embossed on it. Inside the van is a miniature TMNT museum containing the first two original playmates toylines for display, numerous movie and mirage posters, a collection of the original videogames and comics, concept sketches and many more exciting objects from the history of our shellbacked heros. They'll have four costumed turtles for fan interaction and photo opps, the national american tae kwan do association (forgive me I'm sure I've misspelled that) doing a demonstration of moves, and I THINK a demo of the turtles in time remake for all to play. I'm sure theres more but It's slipped my mind at the moment. My event was sponsored by snapple and some pizza place so they had plenty of both on hand, for free. I had a blast, I'd reccomend you go! :]

Tmnt 25

I was at the Chicago one and yep, they had the decked out turtle van. Inside the van, you had all the collectables stuff inside. They had a playable demo of turtles in time for xbox 360. Of course, costumed turtles, but only Leo and Mike..They also did martial art demonstrations too...They didn't sell anything either, but they were passing out TMNT 25 buttons.

Y'know, I have this weekend off, and I'm going to go. Why not, right? It could be alot of fun, and at the very least I can score some TMNT buttons.

I'd attend at Galabunga if they were heading anywhere in the Northwest... *sighs*

So today(or yesterday if you're technical) I went to the Galabunga. It wasn't really an event, more like a single booth at a comic convention kinda feel. It was part of the Dallas Arts District "CityArts" celebration. So it was kind of drowned out by everything else around, it was also 99 degrees outside today, so that's a mood-killer. I was impressed with the mini-museum and they had a TMNT Smash-Up demo available for play. It made me want a Nintendo wii. My wife took some rather embarrassing photos of me and some pics of the Party Wagon itself. It sounds like the kickoff Galabunga was an actual event, where this was merely a mini-museum tour-stop. I wish I coulda gone to the first one, but being in Texas is kind of a bummer for almost any type of convention.

yeah i suppose it was.. but hey a true turtle fan can appreciate the small stuff right? I live in SC i flew out to NY for it but truthfully i wouldve settled for a small event too. The van itself was an awsome attraction and hey, at least you had a smash up demo! lol i wish i couldve previewed it!

Don't get me wrong, it was fun, and really cool to see the mini-museum, but it left me wanting more. I wish there was a huge TMNT 25th convention to be able to go to, maybe something like a comicon, but with emphasis on TMNT. Wishful thinking right?

I was there yesterday too and it was the only thing I was really interested in at the art festival. It was pretty cool to see the inside of the bus, get some free buttons & stickers, take a picture with Michelangelo and play a few rounds of Smash-Up. The guy dressed as Michelangelo even gave my friend the TMNT 25 hat off of his head, lol.

Oh boy, I would LOVE that! If only they could! I'm hopeful that when the new movie comes out, being that it will have been released somewhat in between the 25th and 30th anniverseries that we may have some bigger "shellebration" so to speak. No harm in all of us thinking positively :]

Looks like they've added some more stops to the Galabunga. Most notably Arizona.... BUT according to their latest newsletter they specificially said they'd be in Seattle! There's just nothing on the schedule yet for Seattle...so maybe in August?? At least they're actually coming up here now!

Apperantly this week they're in Colorado (Denver today and Golden tomarrow). And then next week they're in Mesa and Phoenix, Arizona (darn.. I wish I wasn't leaving for Vacation on the 27th... I could have had a chance to do a meet N greet with both the TMNT and Clive Cussler in Arizona on the same day!!!)

July 6th they'll be at the MGM Grand in Vegas and July 11th they'll be in Henderson, Nevada..on their way to L.A for a 3 day thing (July 17th - 19th) where they apperantly take over hollywood?....And then July 23rd for SDCC.

Hopefully they'll make a stop in Tacoma as well as Seattle like they did for the Radio Disney thing a couple years back.
