I was wondering something. I'm trying to make a stop motion animation TMNT video, and would love clips from the original series.
I know we have 'Original Toon Screen Captures' on here as a sticky, but what about having this thread as a sticky, too? I don't know if it's considered illegal, as is discussing where to get downloads of episodes from the internet. I was hoping it was legal, since the audio clips would be from personal dvd's. If anyone could help, I would appreciate it. I have the Window's Recorder on my computer, but I'm not that great at recording. If it's allowed, then we could hopefully have someone nominate themselves to do it? I hope this is a good idea, and hope it's legal, otherwise, I just made myself look like a jack-ass. |

I can't nominate myself to do it because I'm somewhat software illerate but to my knowledge using it without permission is illegal. As much as I wouldnt advocate doing dirt with tmnt involved projects, realistically if its pretty much just for youtube use you wouldnt get in trouble. The worst that would happen is they would simply remove it for copyright issues. As far as I know, using other peoples works are only punished if someone profits off of it. Hope I was of some help.

Yeah, it's just for Youtube. I've made a few stop motion videos, including one where Mr. Perfect wrestles Donatello.
I can't believe no one's ever thought of this. But I guess if no one has, it MUST be illegal. And I guess that's why no one's replied to this thread... |

Screencaps are a very small portion of the video of an episode, and sound clips are a very small portion of the audio of an episode, so there's no reason why one would be more or less legal than the other. And are you sure that no one ever thought of this?

Thanks Krang, at least you cleared up my most important question. I saw that while I was perusing through the rest of the Technodrome.
Now, I just have to wait for someone to volunteer to do it for us, like the 'Toon Captures', and we'll be set, well, I'll be set. Can you edit the sounds if you record too much of a sound in Windows Movie Maker? If so, I can volunteer myself to do it. I would like to contribute something to this board, and why not this? Only if you would make it a sticky, though, but I guess it has to be a popular thread to become a sticky, right? |

Yes, in most cases a thread needs to have a good amount of interest and support before it is made a sticky.
