Is Peter Laird and Mirage financially secure to continue the franchise?

TMNT is no longer the cash cow it was in the late 80's/early 90's, so Peter probably isn't as rich as he used to be.

Likewise publishing on the comics is costing him a fortune (he has stated Vol. 4 never made a profit and sold at a loss), and with Tales they're just breaking even.

The cartoon has ended so sadly TMNT is now not even selling merchandize to the little kids. The toys also haven't made much money.

Likewise Pete spends much of his money on motorcycles. So what does the future hold for TMNT?

I dont know how the sales are going for the tmnt merchandise but i wouldnt assume pete spends much of his money on motorcycles. There is no way we could or should know about his financial situation. Its not our bizness.

If he was smart, he would have put a lot of his profits in mutual funds. That way, he would have tons of money right now. But people handle their money in different ways. And yes, it's really none of our business.

I would hope they have enough money to continue it, but if not, they had a good run. I mean, I don't think they'll be anymore cartoons, so all we have is the comics and the vintage stuff.

Who cares if it's over, though. We have so much stuff as collectors to enjoy, from the past 25 years, how can we expect it to keep on? Toy brands don't last forever, well, except for Star Wars. But other than that, all toys have a 'death date'. But like I said, how can you not be happy with what we have?

There are also movies, the cartoon, toys -- Mirage sees royalties from all of these and more.

Thats true. Anyways, if they cant do anything tmnt related anymore it wouldnt matter. We would all still be here. It just keeps it a little more interesting not to have a totally dead franchise.

Lets not forget the live action 2011 movie! That may very well bring fourth many more interests in the franchise. I should think it will push tickets like coke in nicaragua. At the very least, if thats the last we see of them, it should be an amazing finish.

Lack of assets has never been an issue with Mirage; bad leadership and greed is the only thing holding back the franchise.

Edit: For example, since Publishing and Licensing are different "companies," the money generated by Licensing (very lucrative) doesn't cross over to Publishing (not at all lucrative). If they weren't separate companies and licensing had to "make up" for what publishing lost, Mirage's annual revenue (profit, gross... whatever the technical term is) wouldn't be as high. Oh, and BTW, Gary Richardson's salary is partly determined by the annual revenue (profit, gross, whatever).
