Splinters Bow & Arrow?

I know he busted it out in Secret of the Ooze, and then once in late season 3 of the NT. But what compells/compelled Playmates to almost always but a bow and arrow with Splinter toys?

Perhaps he used it alot in issues of comics that I haven't read, but in the ones that I have I don't recall it.

And I'm not complaining btw, I think it's cool. It's more bad-ass looking than his little cane.

I don't really remember him using a bow and arrow in the comics. I only remember his action figure came with one.

Maybe it's just because swords and staffs and daggers (sai) were already taken, and a bow and arrow was the next logical choice of a weapon. They couldn't have Splinter putting a cap in people, after all.

yeah i guess they figured it was the next best/common ninja weapon.. at least second to an axe that is, that wouldve been a little extreme for him haha.

Probably stemmed from the need to give Splinter an accessory in the toyline.

Splinter did use his wooden staff against the mousers in "A Thing About Rats" and "Shreddered and Splintered" so i guess Playmates could have done that; then again, a bow and arrow does look more intimidating...but that's my opinion.

Kyudo is recon as one of the purest warrior arts, so having Splinter using a bow makes a bit sense

He had both, along with some shuriken.

You know, I was always happy to see the inclusion of the archery gear with Splinter. And that little stick/Walking staff, I always thought that it should be up graded to a "Zatoichi" Style sword.

I thought I remembered Splinter with a bow and arrow in TMNT Vol. 1 #12, but I checked and he doesn't. I don't think he ever did.

I always wondered about the weapons that came with some of the TMNT figures. For example, Rat Kings rat shooting crossbow and rat grapling hook. lol

I think because its different enough from the turtle's weapons and the bow and arrow requires serious skill and mastery to use even semi effectivly. So it fits the the Master, would use an elegant weapon, instead of say an axe or a flail.

Pretty sure they can all use a bow and arrow if they have to. And we do see them using bows and arrows in TMNT Vol. 1 #12.

I think the bow have a bigger meaning to Splinter then just being a weapon,
but then again I don't think Playmates thought that much into it

I really liked when he used the bow on the movie and even the NT mostly because of his action figure. I do think the bow should be his canon weapon. I mean his staff is too similar to donatello's bo.
