Leonardo and Donatello...

Since there are threads comparing the various versions of Raphael and Michelangelo, there should be ones comparing the various Leos and Donnies.

However, in reality, the various versions of Leonardo and Donatello are not all that different to be honest.

Can anyone point out any major differences between them?

NOTE- the traumatized Leo and gamera Donnie from 2k3's 4th season do NOT count. I want their regular normal healthy versions.

I always liked Leo from the movies the best. He was still the leader, but he had fun with his brothers with out it seeming put on.

^Agree on Leo. He sometimes has fun with his brothers in the 2k3 toon, but more often than not, he's portrayed as a bit of a a stiff. Like it or not Scandia, but his momentary break down in the beginning of season 4 was a nice twist to his character, and showed that he is, erm, human (or is as emotionally human as a mutant turtle can get) after all. But the first movie showed a nice variety of cool and collected under pressure, easy going and have a nice rapport with his brothers, even Raphael, but also has a boiling point as was seen in the final showdown with the Shredder.

But I got to say, it's kind of funny to see Leo be so darn gullible in the 2k3 toon. Once with Oruku Saki, and many times with the two timing, two face b!tch Karai! Good thing his brothers and Splinter were there to bring him back on the bright side of the moon.

As for Donny. He's too sweet for my tastes. But I really liked his sarcasm in the 2k7 CGI movie. It's just, he's not aggressive enough for me. He's still a NINJA for crying out loud, he needs more kick ass times! There was one part in the 2k3 toon that showed a nice side of Don. In one of the Big Brawl episodes, I loved it when he got all defensive and protective of Leonardo when he was down. He can be kick ass and aggressive without being an ass and overly violent. It's just that side isn't shown enough, IMO.

Not trying to decide which were my preferred Donnie & Leo ATM, but I just have to say that Cory Feldman was the lamest Don EVAR!! In the first movie, he was virtually unrecognizable as Don, being reduced to a dork rather than a nerd or geek (yes, there are differences). In the third, he was still trying too hard to be an extra clown on the team, but was at least seen doing something nerdy... with a gigantic calculator that came out of nowhere, as if we're supposed to believe he had that bulky thing on him the whole time. But, it still came off forced, as if Don's intellectual contributions to the team were an unimportant joke.

I have trouble picking a favorite Leo. I guess I'd go with either Mirage or movie versions, because as others have said, they're able to fill leader roles without feeling like major stiffs. They both have a lot of bonding moments with their brothers that don't feel forced.

As for Don, definitely the Mirage version. I never dug the sweet-as-sugar 4Kids version. I did like the 1987 version for how much he pulled through for the team, and he had some genuinely funny moments. But at the end of the day, the somewhat creepy, withdrawn Mirage version is the most interesting character, and one of the most interesting Turtles from any version.

His interaction with Casey in "Shades of Grey," his spiritual communion in "The Twilight of the Ring," his relationship to fire-arms, keeping Baxter in the sewers before destroying him, awesome, awesome stuff.

I have to go with Donatello, only because his jokes made me laugh in the Original series. And he liked inventing and had the creative mind--and i'm creative as well

The only time i liked leonardo was when he had some humorous moments in the original series.

as far as leonardo goes. 2k3 version all the way! I love this version of leonardo. I fell in love with his potrayal. I'll get into the reasons why later I have to go to class soon.
