I'm working on the Turtlenecker Brothers - Hans and Fitz customs at present. The input material for this customs are 2 fake mutatin' turtle figures (that were selling in Russia long ago). Actually, I used to customise them right away, but now I got a radical notion (as Michaelangelo would say
1.JPG Because of the quality of this figures it's not a problem to make their shells detachable as it was in TV series. The episode "Planet of the Turtles" to be more precise. But I have some sort of dilemma, either to make 'em with storage shells and to put some weapons there like in the show, or to make them normal backs under the shells. (Oh, it's a pain in ass to describe correctly what I mean Another words, if I'm making their shells with storage, then their backs will be concave. This will be looking rather strange when the shell will be off. But it makes possible to put some weapons into the shell. In the 2nd case, turtles' backs will be convex without their shells. Seems to me, it will look more naturally, but it will not be possible to fit any weapons So, dudes and dudettes, I need your advise to solve my problem! And now, I'll try to add a poll, but if I fail, please don't hesitate to leave your thoughts right in this thread Last edited by MAXtDie; 11-01-2009 at 06:39 AM. Reason: correction |

I like the storage shell idea! Features like that are always cool and help to make customs more fun.

personally i never liked the storage shell turtles, because they even more unrealastic then the existence of the turtles themselves. never heard of the turtlenecker brothers, but if i was you i probably go with the non-storage shell look, less chance of it falling apart and losing pieces.

if your willing to be put in the extra effort:
Attempt to use 2x backs. using a storage shell turtle, create a secondary shell that is larger than the original, that will fit ontop of the storage shell. with the original shell, modify it to look like a "back" instead of a "shell" with whatever is neccessary. this way the end result will be 2 options, you can remove the final outerlayer, the shell, and reveal a "normal back", and you can also opt to remove the back (originally the shell before the mod) to reveal storage space. the hardest part would be to get the size of the outer shell to fit the turtle, but i think it could be done fairly well.

Dragnskull, I grasp your idea. Actually, I'm going to do almost the same thing. The difference is that I'm going to make inner shell, but not the outer one, as I have no spare storage shell turtles
. Besides, the Turtleneckers are bigger than our (ninja) trurtles .Well it seems, that I deluded all of you a bit . So I have made both versions (luckily there are 2 brothers), I hope it will be easier to deside now wich one is preferable. Please keep in mind that here are represented not the final versoins of the figures. With the exception of MUTATIN' SLASH - he is in the final form

Thanks
! Well, my Slash is based on the TV show character and yours on comix/games/Playmates . So your Slash is good on its own.
