who here liked the image tmnt
i just recently bought all the image tmnt books i haven,t read em all yet, but i was wondering. how did you guys like them?
i know that many people disliked it personally i think it makes a cool "what if" type storyline. not to go along w/ continuity but just kinda inrteresting for maybe a parallel universe of tmnt |

I see Image as "professional fan fiction". It's an alternate storyline that splits from Mirage. The stories themselves are interesting, but definitely not "Mirage" type stories. I'm glad I've read them, but I'm also glad Mirage picked up it's old storyline and avoided using Image's ideas (though they had some pretty good ones.)

Yeah, it has few good points, like Raphael as the Shredder, but also many things I don't like, Mutilations, Splinter turning to a bat...

I agree with Kail and the general consesus as well. While the Image comics did make for a wild read, I'm gald it's not really part of the canon TMNT story.
My highlight in the whole comic was Cyborg Don (or Cyber Don as Fosco calls him). Very interesting play of ability and innor turmoil between Don, the cyborg's AI, and Death Watch that was going on there. I would have loved it if they went deeper into it, but the story was moving to fast and was waaaay to complicated to allow that. That's my biggest complaint. They wanted to do TOO much with the TMNT, that the stories were going all over the place like crazy. One minute they are fighting Lord Komodo, then the next minute they are running off to Chicago in search of vampire bats... only to get stuck in a whole different quest for another villian. Then the crediblity factor took a plunge by the end of the series (beginning with Leo's downfall). I admit, I stopped buying em after #18 (the series ended at #23). But the comic is still worth the read if you are game for it! |

It was a great thing to happen at the time. There was no more tmnt tv show, no action figures, and peter laird himself was disinterested with the tmnt. It was the only tmnt thing going. It was a good "filler" type thing, but now that we have a full relaunch, the image series is put down a notch.

Although I've never read it, I like to think of Volume 3 as an alternate timeline seperate from the timeline that Volume 4 represents I'd love to see Pete write like a cross-over between the two.

I'm not a fan, to put it lightly.
In the first issue alone, Donatello died (though he came back) and Raphael was horribly scarred. It was just too much, IMO.

I agree with the general public here. It was kind of cool but best kept seperate from TMNT canon. VERY seperate
