WIP Original Sculpt NECA style BEBOP

First post here after lurking for awhile. I wanted to post my Originl Sculpt bebop figure

I loved TMNT as a kid, and When neca did the TMNT figures for collectors i was very excited. The figures i thought were phenominal, i just wasn't big on them being based on the comic, I have no nostagia for the comic.

I was really hoping for a super detailed line from neca based on the toon and toys, but it will never happen. Playmates is holding the license hostage, and I don't think we'll ever see like good figures from playmates. They are IMO the worst toy company. I'd love if hasbro or mattel got the license. So after giving up all hope i decided to do it myself.

Bebop is an Original Sculpt Over a MOUTC figure. I'm SO happy i found the cartoon turn around reference art, it was super useful. Theres some things that are missing right now, Like I havent added the chains, because I'm going to make them out of real metal chains. Same with the nose ring hopefully. I also left of the gun belt on his chest, cause i really liked the chest sculpt and didn't wanna cover it up.... on top of rationalizing it as being based original figure in that department. I also gave him the wierd turtle skull emblem from the back of the original figure on his back

I'm kinda proud of the articulation on this cause it's all functioning. I thought i camme up of a cool way of doing shoulder armor. I sculpted the base shoulder. Then using my seperation method with liquid masking, i made the turtle shoulderpads removable. Then i had strap of styrene connected by the neck area hidden with sculpt. So the styrene was connnected but not actually connected on the shoulder. Then i glued the shoulderpads to the styrene. So the shoulders can move around, but the turtle shells are connected to main body.

I also kept the abdomen and waist articulation even with the vest sculpted over it using my seperation method. then when the apoxie was like 80% cured where its bendy but it keeps the detail i trimmed it away

The hands are kinda crappy, i think they need to be touched up still, and the one small shoelaces bow is annoying the hell outta me now that i can see it in the pics.

That is aaaaaawesome... though I died a little inside when you said you sculpted over a MOTUC figure. You just couldn't pick something cheaper and more common, could you?

You sculpted EVERYTHING! That's commendable. I really like the details you paid attention to (the foot soldier head in the back of the vest is my favorite). Can't wait to see this one finished. Oh, and welcome to the 'Drome!

I feel sad seeing that a Merman had to die in order to have this extremely cowabungarrific Bebop.
I guess you're keeping him in Black and White since the B&W Mike is next to him.
(That guy would've looked awesome in color as well.)

Agreed. I'm guessing the necklace and other chains will be added later?

I would definitely paint it when you find the right brand of paints/colors that won't take away from your amazing sculpting job.

Ah actually i was using your bebop as a reference it gave me the idea of the symbol on the back. I was never 100% sure what it was on the original toy. I can see the foot head, but it kinda looks like a turtle skull akin to bebops necklas sorta as well. much abliged.

I had BW mike just to show size reference, i got the BW turtles to use as custom fodder because they are cheaper. I'm going to paint them to look like the original figure color schemes. and maybe change out the belts to look like the original figure ones.

Bingo, I'm going to use real metal chains for his belt and wrist, and hopefully the nosering as well. But i don't want to add the chains till after i paint the figure...... and i havent gone out and bought chains yet either. I'll also add on the necklas as well.

On the paint I usually use tamiya and liquitex acrylics. Sometimes plastic fusion as well, but not on bebop.

Thanks very much for the feedback i'm really appreciative of it, and i look forward to posting more stuff in the future.

I've been customizing for awhile and have a ton of customs, but i don't have the webspace to host all the photos at once now, so I only have newer things on display. But I will have my own custom website with everything I've made soon.

I did a marvel legnds style GI joe figures for custom con 20007

http://www.thefwoosh.com/2007/07/cc17-gijoe-deluxe

Then I did a Metal Gear Solid based entry for this last custom con, based on gi joe 4 inch figures.

http://www.thefwoosh.com/2009/12/cc2...r-solid-by-ray

I still have allot ML customs i've done that wernt for comic con, that i need websapace to host. but like i said when i get my website made it will have everything.

I really love your G.I. Joe customs, in particular Scarlett and Destro. the sculpting and paint job on them is amazing. now I cant wait til you finish your Bebop custom. and I hope you get your website up soon, and make sure to post a link when you do.
