It's not a waste in my opinion. Since I have a 50 inch T.V. and it also comes with special TMNT personal cards and an autographed sketch by Laird. I play it on my PS3 and it looks better than it ever has. The normal version of the Movies comes with four bandanas matching the colors to each turtle.

I agree. It is not a waste of money at all. Looks much better on my HD TV than my old VHS-tapes

I've had the set since it was released. It's a good investment. I never imagined turtles would get BD treatment so I'm excited that they did. It goes as follows.
Turtles 1: Looks great in some scenes and horrible in others. Mainly the scenes taking place in the sewer. This is a common problem with BDs as a whole though. Predator has a similar issue. Turtles 2: Probably looks the worst out of them all. While the overall quality is consistent it never reaches the same level as some of the scenes in the first movie do. Not a downside completely but not much of an upgrade from the DVD. Turtles 3: Sadly looks the best of the trilogy. A complete waste but oh well it's newer so it makes sense. I didn't watch the entire film, I'm not insane enough, but I saw plenty. TMNT: Obviously looks good. Nothing special but an improvement on the DVD for sure. Yeah no special features but like I say they wouldn't be in high def anyways so just watch them online. The set comes with some collectors cards, a hat, and a mini comic adapting the first movie. The price has gone down since so it's a good deal. |

on the first film, the aspect ratio is off... i THINK that the BR is 16:9, while the film was shot 2:35. aside from that, the first film is FANTASTIC in BR. no digital noise reduction, sharp picture, clean audio, etc. people whine and moan about film grain... but i think it's lovely. TMNT was shot with a very fast film, so it's supposed to be grainy.
the set as a whole... it's terrible. the "pizza box" packaging is gimmicky and doesn't hold up well. ...and i have NO clue who could possibly want the "character cards"... they were a total waste of money. it's a shame the movies weren't released separately. i'm holding out hope for a reissue of the first film with behind the scenes content. |
