Buyers beware of comicvendor.com

So I ordered from www.comicvendor.com. It seemed like they had a big selection so it caught my interest. Some members reported their inventory skills were lacking but I was willing to take a chance anyway and hoped some of the books I ordered were available. Their inventory methods are beyond awful. Out of the near 30 books I ordered only 8 were available. I was annoyed at first but I was willing to look past this until what happened next. I received a partial refund for what was unavailable. The amount they refunded didn't add up. It was such a small refund compared to what little was going to be shipped. I checked their note against the original order I placed and added up the amounts. Well it turns out the vendor decided to raise the prices on the few books that were available by double and in some cases triple what I originally purchased them for!

I guess he took it upon himself to think it was OK to do this and that I'd go along with it. Never in all my years of buying online has a vendor ever changed the prices on an item after I've already paid for them. At this point I was PO'd so I sent him an email to cancel my order and refund the rest of my PayPal. I'm waiting for a reply and the rest of my refund. I always like trying new vendors but this was a complete waste of my time!

Guys do yourselves a favor and shop somewhere else. I went ahead and checked good ol' www.MyComicShop.com and www.MileHighComics.com and was able to order just about everything I was originally going to get from this loser.

Woah, I hadn't even noticed that.
Though yeah, their supposed GREAT stock is not worth the hassle of trying to deal with them.

I ordered the requisite $25+ order, only to have my order entirely refunded a few days later. Why? I only really wanted two books, but because of the minimum purchase ordered a bunch of fluff books. Stuff I always wanted, but were not high on my collector list. Well...apparently that's what they didn't have, the fluff stuff. The two books I wanted were in stock, no problem.

Disappointed, I tried again. Only NOW the two I want are out of stock, and only half of the fluff stuff is there. Again I was refunded, only this time they're sending me half the order.

They take down contact information, how hard would it be to follow up with people?!
SO not worth the effort.

All I got was a refund saying that the three issues that I ordered were all out of stock, which I thought was an easy (but amateurish) mistake to make. Nothing along these lines, but yeah - doubtful i'll be placing an order again.

As raph said, appreciate the heads up. I was actually thinking about ordering from them & came rather close to doing so. Between the words of you & plastroncafe, he/they have lost alot of potential customers.

They effed me too.

They didn't send me two issues, and then every single issue from the Image Series that I ordered was a Mirage issue (they got the right number though lol). I e-mailed the dick but he ain't responded, I'm gonna call Monday.

He's still got the three issue I tried to buy up on the site for sale. (Adventures 70 & 72, Mutanimals 9). Surely, if there is no stock, and he now knows that there is no stock - would he not take it down from being on sale?

my order was missing 8 issues! i got a $0.99 refund! not only that 3 of the image volume 3 books I ordered where sent to me as volume 1. I got no response either.

Everyone needs to file a dispute through paypal. this will force comicvender to give proper refunds. if our filed disputes go unresolved the website could loose their paypal account.

I got the rest of my refund today. I honestly don't understand why I even had to wait a few days for a refund in the first place. What's so hard about logging in to your account and pressing the refund button? I hope the rest of you get your money back. Don't hesitate to file a claim if you need to.

I just filed my dispute... I'm getting pounded left and right this week. Demolition comics won't give me back my twenty dollars, western union won't give me back a twenty dollar order that I cancelled, and then this joker.

And Mirage hasn't sent my package I ordered in February, atleast I know they're good for it (eventually).

I don't even know that it's worth it for me to file a claim, though...I might do just that when I get the chance. My comics arrived yesterday with a good chunk of them having different prices than what I'd agreed to pay.

Bad form, ComicVendor. No biscuit.

This just keeps getting weirder. I received another email from the vendor all of a sudden sounding very sincere. The messages I received before were so abrupt and apathetic. Then I receive a package in the mail from Comic Vendor. It's like he packed it in advance and forgot he wasn't supposed to mail it. I did not open the package nor do I care what's in there. Now I have to make a trip to the post office and hope they will return it to the seller. It was left of my doorstep while I was at work otherwise I would have refused the delivery. This is so annoying... I wouldn't hesitate to file a claim plastron. If everyone lets this guy slide then he'll continue to scam others.

A u tryin to say he decided to do triple prices on some of the books and just went ahead sent u the stuff and made everythin looks like it had already became a fact that u got the items and have to take all that from him unless u wanna deal with all the hazzle for 25 bucks?

If i was u i probaby just gonna end up ate that S because im too lazy to head to the post office without a good reason.

That is indeed a outrageous way to have a business goin.

So you got a full refund and then some of the books that you ordered appeared on your doorstep? I'd be having that. Not your problem if he sent them out by accident and if he doesn't say anything about it, there's not a chance i'd send them back...

So the plot thickens.

I gave this guy a call today, to see what was going on and what not. Talked with the owner, who seemed very nice. Apparently the price change was the result of a tickbox I missed which authorized him to upgrade my order if possible. So that explains the price change.

As for the books not being there to fill the order?
It seems to me that web-ordering might be a bit more than their current business model can handle. If people are going to order through them they should do so via email or the phone. Just give them a call and ask if they have such and such in stock. Then...apparently, don't go through paypal. According to him it just slows up everything.

So, there's that.

and these comments remove comicvendor from the line-up entirely. Cheers.
