like cooksux? or grunger kittie? or skeleton crew? etc etc.

Mine's kinda obvious, so i don think it needs an explanation.

I was wondering when this thread would come around again

Yeah, "Reznorite" is a term I use to describe Nine Inch Nails fans such as myself, and the 420...well, people should know that

Mine is spiritual in nature:

A 'heretic' is one who has views that are contrary to, or actively opposes, the 'mainstream' way of seeing and doing things. Particularly, in regards to religion. Don't take this as an anti-Christian thing, because within the context of the Biblical myth the figure Iesous Kristos was indeed a heretic in the truest sense of the word.

The number '888' is derived from the Greek system of Pagan gematria/numerology (of which the early Christians were obviously VERY dependent on). In this system, the Greek letters of the alphabet are assigned numerical equivalents. The Greek name Iesous, which we translate into English as 'Jesus', has a numerical equivalent that comes out to 888.

The number 888 has several philosophical importances. When one adds all the numerical equivalents of each letter of the Greek alphabet, the total is 888. In addition, 8 plus 8 plus 8 is 24, which is exactly the number of letters in the Greek alaphabet. In musical harmony, 888 is the string ratio of the whole tone (whereas 666 is the string ratio of a half-tone). In the ancient Hellenistic understanding, there were imagined to be 'seven heavens' in the universe which are transcended by the 'Ogdoad' (the eighth sphere) where Christ and Sophia (Wisdom) were said to reside.

So... I guess one translation of heretic888 is heretic-Jesus. I'm kind of into Gnostic Christianity, especially the Pauline strands....

Well... back in 1997, I was solely a horse woman... mucking out stalls and excercising horses 24-7. Since all the folks on this one listserve already grabbed up the orginal TMNT nicknames, I made up my own. I went by HorseTurtle, a mutant turtle who was skilled in the ways of the horse.

But in 2000, I left the equine bracket to get a better paying white-collar job. Hanging around all these computers and huge-A copy machines brought the geek back out of me. When I joined the Technodrome, I decided to go by HorseTechie. Lots of people still liked to call me HT, so the nick change was subtle.

Then after some RP discussion here, and a hybrid contest later, I decided to make my avatar for this nick an actual horse and turtle cross mutation, with cybernetic attachments!

The 007 part should be pretty obivous.

lol... this is just to get an explination of my nickname isn't it?

Anyways, I used to go by the name ilovekittiegirls on AIM and other message boards, then I was at HotTopic one day, and saw the oddest peiece of Hello Kitty merchandice ever, and had to have it... Hello PUNKER Kittie... yep a Punker Hello Kittie... needless to say, I bought it... At the time I was living with some friends, and we all have jokes about how I refuse to let grunge die, my friend sarah saw Punker Kittie and made a joke how I was like a Hello Grunger Kittie.... I dropped the hello part and made a new AIM name as a joke, and next thing you know I am attached to the damn name!

Mine's easy, Kali is a nick I'd been using off-line for at least a year before even getting on-line. It goes back to my researching Wicca/Paganism days. According to the name books I have it means "dark goddess", but that's just one definition.

Though I don't use them here, I have "last names" I use in places where just Kali would get lost in the shuffle. Most of the time it's Gargoyle, from back when I was big in the Gargoyles fandom, and one place it's Shedemon.

eh??

Wicca/Paganism???

Well.... as far as I know, Kali is the Hindu 'black goddess' of death and destruction and one of the many consorts/counterparts to the god Shiva (god of death and rebirth).

I don't know if Hinduism counts as the typical notion of 'Paganism', but...

Yes, I know that. Perhaps New Age would have been a much better term. While some of the books I got were Celtic oriented, most of them gave a broader, more general guide. There wasn't a defined pantheon, but instead you were allowed to pick and choose Higher Powers as needed. Very flexible.

hmmmm...

well, i don't know if i'd call Kali worship 'New Age'. its been done in several forms of Hinduism (such as Tantra) for centuries. its not like the Celtic/Wiccan forms which basicaly died out, and have been revived in the past few decades.... but i digress.

((by the way, Kali, read my integral theory thread. i wanna know whatchoo think. ))

My name:
Back about 1998/99, my best friend at the time was writing a Sailor Moon fanfic, featuring a few Sailor Senshi that she had made up. One of these was "Sailor Wind", whose real name was Kaze (Japanese for "wind"). Another was "Sailor Fire", AKA Kasai (which means "fire").
My friend had modeled Kaze after herself, and I found that Kasai reminded me of myself. Hence, we would jokingly refer to each other as "Kaze" and "Kasai" in notes, e-mail, etc.

As for the "chibi" part- When I signed up for AIM, I found the "Kasai" name was already taken. So I just added "Chibi" in front. ("Chibi" meaning "little" in Japanese). Now I use it everywhere for consistency's sake.

Shadow

I was searching the web one night and came across Kali's site. She has this whole other person when it comes to the internet. This whole alias thing seemed fun.

While searching ninja turtles i came across something i never knew...Shadow (the little girl in the comics) I never knew casey had a daughter...i never really had access to the comics growing up.

I always liked the idea of Shadow as a first name (before i knew she was tmnt related) and decided to go with that as an alias...but my own version of Shadow...that plays off the comics and the one in my head...and of course the real me.

So yeah. That's where I got shadow...the love of the name and the love of the turtles. I think if i ever have a little girl...i'll prob name her shadow.
