Hi All,
Mica here. I'm rather new to the forum here, but I thought I might share a TMNT query I've been pondering.

WHY ARE NINJA TURTLES GREEN??? I mean, I know the ninja turtles are green, but WHY? I mean, normal box turtles aren't. They're scaley and they're brown, and yellow, and orange, and red, not really green. The only kind of turtle that I can think of that is green is a sea turtle, and I'm fairly sure the TMNT aren't sea turtles... gaw, I'm confused

Welcome to the forums! *offers the mango of peace* Enjoy your stay!

Hmmm...well, in all the cartoons Ive seen, TMNT and NON-TMNT, turtles have always geen that greenish color.

Not all turtles tho. Im sure you'll be able to meet Azure Turtle one of these days, he's blue. Im sure you'll get lots of comments from the other forumners...

Yup, we got all sorts of different kinds of folk here and LOTS of interesting things going on, so you'll always find something to do!

Welcome to our forums, Mica! *whispers to Machias* Hide Mikey-clone.

Why are they green....? *blink blink* Because.... Uh.... *passes out*

I so can't think straight this morning. I keep wanting to give a mood green is associated with.

*glomp* Micaaaaaaa-sama! Hi!

Did you come to witness what wierd wicked discussions we can conjure here when under the influences of various substances and stresses? Hrmm...?

You know.. when I was digging up some reference pics for SkeletonCrew's gender dillemma, I started to wondering why the TMNT were all one solid color too!

Weeell... my logical reasoning is from hyper-evolution. The same excuse I give as to why they also have teeth, dark pupils with eye-whites, sweat glands, regulated body temperature, and opposible thumbs.

The simple answer... because Eastman and Laird thought they look cool like that!

Hi, Mica! Nice to meet you!
Talking of the color... The creators might have thought that such a color as brown would make the heroes look glum and red or purple turtles would seem absurd.
Besides, the green color made it possible to invent some funny situations. In one of the episodes, the Turtles were mistaken for the Punk Frogs; another ep was calles "Green with Jealousy" (isn't that a cool pun?)
P.S. I've been at your site. Good job!

I hope you're not implying that blue turtles are absurd, Deskjet
Greetings, Mica, and welcome to insanit..err, the Technodrome forums!! I believe we already met through email, and I've joined the TMNT mailing list as you recommended. I'm currently lurking about, and I may make my presence known someday. I'm just a little shy, and I like to lurk a little before I join in Anywho, why are the TMNT green? A very good question. Hmm...well, they had no color at the beginning, but someone eventually thought of making them completely green. I guess it's easier to color them one shade of green rather than different shades. Perhaps simplicity was sought after? And turtles seem to be associated with the color green. I dunno why, but I remember seeing all animated turtles (such as the ones in Looney Toons) colored green. Now perhaps you're wondering how I ended up being blue?
*crickets chirp*
Okay, nevermind. 'Tis an unsolved mystery, anyway. Again, welcome to the Technodrome, Mica! Enjoy your stay.

My gender dilemma? *blank look* Oh that! (For a moment there I thought I was going to have to beat someone for calling me a guy.)

I think they're probably green because thats the color people often associate with turtles. Think of Turtle Wax, or any other logo turtle...prolly all green.

Sorry, Azure, I did not want to hurt your feelings when I spoke of the colors. I was only expressing my opinion. To my mind, your bright blue color is very effective, but it is... how to say... maybe not true to life?

Why are the turtles green? Maybe they put a little too much permanent coloring into that mutagen...I mean it was green, wasn't it!?

*ducks to avoid all incoming baps*
