Original sculpt Rat King and Traag COMPLETE painted up

Now onto my newest edition of turtle figures Rat King and General Traag! These guys were really fun for me to make. I know i should be making shredder and the foot, obviously, but I love sculpting rock texture and fur, so while i like the characters as well, these were very fun scuplturally. while making shredder still intimadtes me cause of the armor. I'm good at organic things, but armor and robotic things are not my forte for sculpting.

Rat King is an original Sculpt, he used to be the iron-man figure in the ML shield sets. everythings pretty much been sculpted on him. I go into more detail on the sculpting process in my WIP thread. For paint, i was trying to make rat king look like he did in the cartoon, and i realy wanted him very grimey looking. except for the skin tone he's pretty much all hand painted liquitex acrylic, i really went heavy on the drybrushing, i felt it make him look grungy. I also made his eyes red, like the toy, i thought it'd look make him sinister looking, and i thought it would be cool if all his rats had red eyes as well, like there under his control.

I also added something since you saw the WIPS, i decided to give rat king a base, I didnt take a wip picture, but the base is a totally original sculpt, the pipe is cap off something other than that all apoxie sculpt. I killed so much of my apoxie suplly doing this. I'm not a 100% happy with how the rats came out. They kind evolved as i made them. The initial rats i did were very cutsey, but i kept trying to make them more meaner looking as i progressed. Adding all the rats took a long ass time.

General Traag isn't a totally original sculpt, but he's had some heavy work done. He was a thing figure from the F4 2-pack, I actually redid some things on him since the wip picture was taken, i resculpted his face, gave him a belt bukcle and a gun holster. For traag I'm going for the color scheme he had in the cartoon, I always felt the toys color scheme was lame. But traag and mikey, were my first TMNT figures so i have a soft spot for him. Traggs pretty much like rat king i spray painted him brown, then did allot of dry brushing. I was trying to keep the toon colors, but go for a bit more of a realstic approach.

His gun is kitbashed from some movie joe cannon, and i made the handle out of styrne, it's supposed to look like the gun the original figure came with. I was actually going to give traag a super cool accessory, but it woulda taken at least anoter week. I wanted to make the mini helicopter "tubular transports" bad guys from the arcade game. But i didnt want to wait that long so I'll throw it in with my next figure.

And heres a group shot of all my TMNT figures togeter.

Thanks for all the feedback on the figures again, it's always appreciated. Right now I'm starting to make my squad of 4 Foot Ninjas. I was having a hard time deciding what to do next, i couldn't decide between casey jones, tora from the NES arcade game or the foot ninjas.

The figure i actually wanna make the most is Baxter but I don't have any fodder the right small size to make him.

I have fodder set aside for tricerton and have thought about him.

But my overall goal over the years, i think it would be cool to have all the bosses from the TMNT arcade game, and turtles in time. When i was a kid i was always annoyed they didnt tap into the cool stuff from the games for the toyline. Like multi color foot, tora, shogun, hell granitor and rock troopers [well they were in the cartoon as well].

But I also want to start doing some thundercats customs after i do my next batch of turtles stuff...

I really like the work you did on Rat King's base--the asymmetric design/outline (rather than a more uniform boxlike shape) makes it visually striking. Rat King himself came out pretty good too.

Traag is excellent--great form and impressive paint. Definitely my favorite of the two figures.
