Rock soldiers: mutants?

In "MICHELANGELO'S BIRTHDAY", Krang said they were a previously mutated species. But, did anyone ever think of them as mutants? Kinda strange that, out of all the indigenous creatures of Dimension X we've seen, they were the only non-organics... and the most like slave labor, worker drones that a supreme warlord might have engineered.

I had actually forgotten that aspect of them, but thinking back it seems like there was a moment where some rocks were mutated or something .

Anyway, no, I never saw them as mutants; I just figured they were rock-people like on the Neverending Story.

What I wondered was when Playmates would release a Granitor fig. I always wanted a Granitor action figure!

Totally agree here. A Granitor figure would've been awesome, dunno why playmates left him out. And, I never really looked them as mutants but as Venom said I just looked at them as "rock people".

I know that there were some rocks mutated into Rock Soldiers in one episode... or maybe it was the other way around. Either way, they're mutants, but I regularly forget that and commonly see them as just "rock people." For some reason it seems cooler that way.

The Rock Soldiers are aliens, not mutants. Therefore, I see them as rock people.

Aliens can also be mutants. And isnt the "rock people" something that appears in He-Man.

Yeah, aliens can be mutants but I prefer them not to be. Usagi isn't a mutant.

Nor is he an alien; he's from Earth, albeit different.

Krang could have created them in Dimension X. Their mindless slaves willing to do whatever he wants. What a better army then that? Who knows though the cannon of that series is all over the place. In one episode Krang's race is shown as looking like brains, one even had a mustache, and in another Krang's race is shown to be giant lizard people. They just do whatever works for the episode.

He's still an alien, but not an extraterrestrial.

Touche. I never gave much thought to "Sliders" being aliens, per se, but I see where you're coming from.

I know this could be rose color glasses, but I think the episode where it shows them being mutated, is when some one spills retromutagen or shoots a rock soldier with the anti mutagen ray and it makes them turn back into rocks.

I want to say I remember the rock soldier being unwilling to cooperate.

They weren't. You just remember them running away cuz Krang was ticked the spray didn't work and told them to get out of his sight. Then, he tossed the full sprayer at them, telling them to dispose of it, but it breaks on and demutates them instead.

I also recall that, a season 3 episode where they were turned back into rock again.

This website has an interesting fanfic named "The Exile of Krang". It's just a fanfic.

Maybe they're named after rock music, so we could have pop soldiers, country soldiers and dansband soldiers.

Yeah, I don't remember exactly what season it was from. But there definitely was an episode where there's at least one rock soldier who gets reverted back into an ordinary rock.

Taking this a step further, he said this immediately after spraying the Soldiers with the antimutagen he found randomly bubbling up in a lava pool that Shredder scooped up with his bare hand. Afterwards...

I recall it was season 3, as the Technodrome was located near the Earth's core.
