Good Paints / Bad Paints
What are the Good Paints you use , or will recommand to customisers ?
What Paints brands should we avoid ? which are Bad ? today I got acrylics paints , they were like $10 the 12colors on market, since I'm waiting for good ones, I gave it a try. ![]() The blue from Leo bandana's Citadel Colors paints (this is good). The Orange and Green paints are theses cheap paints, even they say it's for plastic.. they don't stick well. Spoiler:
this brand's "de fil en image" I would not recommand it to anybody.

While I too use the cheap Apple Barrel (and Folk Art) brands, a lot of customizers don't like them and consider them inferior. Tamiya, Testors, and Citadel are some of the brands that I see other customizers swear by. The best thing to do, if you have the funds for experimentation, is to try out several brands and see which you like the best.

I use citadel, and Vallejo Acrylics Game Color. I tend to prefer the game color because they come in dropper bottles, so you can measure out your paint. Also if you make a custom color, you can remember the recipe for how many drops you used on each. They're a little harder to find. Here's the website.

I really like Delta Ceramcoat, honestly. The more expensive stuff -- Testors, Games Workshop, etc. -- can be great, but you have to be a lot more careful with it, watering it down and making sure not to keep stroking as it dries. Otherwise you end up with a clumpy mess and that's no fun.
With the cheaper paints, you can generally just keep going and be totally fine! Delta Ceramcoat dries with a slightly chalky feel, but you can get it to that factory feeling by buffing it with a soft cloth and/or using a sealer.

I mostly stick to using tamiya and liquitex acrylics paints. Tamiya doesn't paint well on the bendy soft type plastics, but liquitex works on everything.

I use the Apple Barrel/Americana/Folk Art brands that cost about a buck at Michaels. Delta Ceramcoat is pretty good, too, especially for skin tones.
But remember -- It's not the tools that make the work great, it's the artist! Experiment with as much as possible, and find what works best for you! As you can see, there are a variety of answers to your question, and none of them are wrong!
