Favorite Lyricists

This is totally for the music lovers of the board, but I am curious to know who everyone's favorite lyricists are?

Mine would be Kurt Cobain, Billy Corgan, Tori Amos, Dexter Holland and several others, I'd like to hear what other people think, and please no bashing anyone's musical preferences

I love Axl Rose, the anger and truth in all his lyrics are just impossible to ignore. He's still the poster child for a time when "alienated youth" meant going out and breaking stuff, not cutting your wrist and wearing lots of eyeshadow.

Dexter Holland is a great one too, GK, Offspring can switch gears between funny and serious without ever skipping a beat.

Glenn Danzig also gets a vote, as does whoever's been writing The Misfits' songs since '96 (my money's on Jerry).

While his voice had deteriorated over the years slightly, I still say Trent Reznor will please me any day. Unlike a lot of artists today, he actually writes his own lyrics AND music...nor does he stick to one specific style...ugh, here I go again...

Actually, that logic is hard to disagree with, Trent is very good when it comes to writing, very rare is it a NIN song sounds like another. (Atleast to me)

I'm with Royce da 5'9''... I'm more on the rap scene than anything. He has a certain style that isn't trying to show out much...

My fave lyricists/vocalists would be.... Fred Durst (limpbizkit), Trent Reznor (NIN), Eminem, Tupac, Jonathon Davis (KoRn), Serj Takian (System of a Down), Zach De La Rocha (Rage Against the Machine), and Kurt Cobain (Nirvana).

Cobain, Lennon, McCartney, Staley, Vedder, Cornell, Shaun Morgan (from Seether, one of the better bands to come out in a while), Grohl...

thats about it i think. I like a lot of other bands lyrics, but not enough that i would list them (examples: Godsmack, Weezer, Sugarcult, System of a Down, Slipknot...)
